Had some luck with the UE900s on massdrop for $175 I like the signature for certain genres and then Happened to come across some new CA Lyra II new for $499 for a dynamic driver iem that tracking info say the will be here in 4 days that I am really looking forward to!
Mixed emotions on MD and if a lot of the drops are even “deals” (even for us in the USA=no customs no tax etc) at all but I’ve had some luck by browsing once a week. And the Sennheiser 6xx for $199 is a no brainer.
For getting into portable like a newbie like myself you will realize MICROPHONICS of the cable on certain IEMS needs to be detailed more on reviews Bc for my semi portable use it is almost as important as comfort or it’s a waste

(MRSP might not be under 500 bucks but they are great and their price has dropped since release. )

For me it is definitely these two
Campfire Polaris: (499 for B stock) definitely one of the best in this price range.
Noble Savant: (price dropped a lot and is now discontinued) extremely fun sound signature.

Add Cayin YB04 to the list...

if it had just a smidge bit more bass, it would slay a ton.Mids and highs and overall presentation is nice. This is coming from a flc8s and blessing 2 owner. Of the three, blessing 2 is the weakest strangely enough (imo).

FiiO FA9 is going to be king in the ~500 USD IEMs if you love a natural, smoother, warmer sound. Not only that, but you can flavor it using the switches at the back, and for an IEM that's made by FiiO, I actually went ahead and compared it directly to flagships. You guys deserve the best when you're paying this much, so I help my article helps you figure out whether FA9, the all-BA flagship from FiiO is going to be your next purchase or not!!

Update: I swapped out my FLC8S in favor of the FLC8D. Basically a hardwired FLC8N with the low end tuned red - grey. Loving it and less parts to lose.

My new favorite toy is the LZ-A7. Not as comfortable as the FLC8 range; but easily tuned and sounds great. It doesn't kill the 8D but is a slight step up.

Surprised how often the FLC8S shows up in this poll. At least considering that the brand barely exists on Head-Fi anymore except for this thread.
