List your favorite IEMS under $500

Right side of my A7 died last night. Well I shouldn’t say died because if I bend the cable a certain way it will work. I’m guessing something went wrong with the MMCX connector on the IEM.
Have you tried another cable? Or switch the left cable to the right unit.

I do swap, but not constantly. I have a feeling that is what caused it to malfunction.
That is the culprit then. MMCX connectors arent meant to be swapped. (some of my older iems with mmcx are starting to spin like a beyblade lol)

This is an easy question. This list holds no actual order of best to worst.

The Thieaudio Legacy 4 $195
Pretty much the best $195 IEM I’ve ever heard, actually you know what...........not pretty much..............it is! Great for $195. Fast exciting sub-bass, walks the line of analytical yet musical. Win Win!

The Sony XBA-N3 $270
Kind-of starting to get dated, yet maybe in a good way like becoming a classic in it’s own funny way. Still charming and has a character, super comfortable and fits all humans.

Sony XBA-Z5 $400
Yep...still alive.........kicking acc and taking names. The bass most IEMs wish they had.........yet will never be man enough. :)

BLON-BL01 $23
The greatest (for the price) along side the TC-01 which will be next. The TC-01 beats it, yet for $23 and what it does...........it’s great. My first BLON, so......it’s special. The BL-01 needed inverted tips and a SPC cable but after that remained not cranky or troublesome in any way.

The Tripowin TC-01 $49
Super together and carefully tuned. A big wide thunderstorm of bass sexy-ness that will haunt you in your dreams, till you wake and find it near. Really the signpost that yep.....this is the future and great audio is very very well priced.

One that finds itself slightly above the thread requirements......but I’ll throw it in........

The DUNU SA6 at $549.99
Super nice tune, fit and build, something that also walks that line of detail and musicality, lovable like a puppy only less clean-up.

And finally......the Fearless S6Rui at $389
Just as correct as the sheet of paper the teacher uses to correct student’s tests with. Maybe better off low power yet when you feed the S6Rui right, nothing gets left out.

The ones that didn’t make the list...you ask?

Well they didn’t make the list.

Man...good to know now before i ruin any other ones. I thought it would put less stress on the connectors when i stored them. I also have balanced cables I would swap out for when i listened to different amps. Guess i wont be doing that anymore...

Swapping out the cable to use different amps is a one way ticket to getting the beyblade function. :joy:

I use adapters for my cables (in 4.4mm). I use this one for 4.4mm to 6.35mm

I must have plugged it in perfectly this time...no problems now. Dont think ill be switching the cable out at all. At least its the Fiio LC-4.4D...

are 2 pin connectors the same way? If so, I’m just going to keep all my IEMs connected when i store and transport them.

Are 2 pin connectors as delicate as the MMCX? Should I leave them plugged in instead of unplugging them when I store the IEMs?
They are better, but there is always the risk of damaging them. So I dont recommend disconnecting/connecting them all the time.

Thoughts on UM 3DT and Moondrop B2D in this category? I’ve heard some nice things about FiiOs in this category too
The FH7 are $450 and definitely can hold their own.
