Here is some useful information for anyone intending to use a USB-powered USB DAC with an iPad, without wanting to resort to a mains-powered USB hub...

The following "unofficial CCK"/ hub will work with some DACs using only the iPad's battery for power:

OK, so it's TRANSportable

Thanks, this will work better than a Bott hub for one of my applications.

I'll be able to try this in a couple of days. The camera connection kit is buried in the trunk of my car right now.

According to this, it works with the iPad but  you'll need a usb hub.

Used for:
- Mac, Windows and LInux computers.
- Confirmed working with iPad 3 (iOS 6.0.1) using this USB hub: http://hifimediy.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=90

hub? camera kit connection is good?

The USB out doesn't spit out enough juice, so it needs a battery or mains-powered USB hub plugged into the camera connection kit. International, however, works straight plugged into the iPad/Jailbreaked iPhone/iPod touch running iOS 5 and earlier.

As I reported in the AudioQuest DragonFly review thread:

I can confirm that the T3Hub with the CCK works 100% with the iPad 4/Dragonfly combination.  Listening to it now and no issues I can detect.  Of course, without the T3Hub the iPad balks and displays "too much power" warning.

Can you tell me where I can find the name or even where to buy the thing that connects from 30 pin to a USB port? I tried typing 30 pin to usb on Google but all I can find is a USB end like this, http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/B/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable Thanks

It's called the Camera Connection Kit.

Might be difficult to find, since the point of using a hub is to have multiple USB ports LOL

Thanks a bunch, totalling those together, I found out that the entire Dragonfly DAC kit costs around $370. Does anybody know if a different USB hub will work besides the T3Hub? I don't like the 3 USB adapters it has on it, I like to keep it clean and simple with one.
