no, but a powered usb hub means no more portable :(
I will try these two options
a. dac into powered hub, and hub into ipad
b. a y-cable with one going into ipad and another into powered hub. Can either be used or is there a way to find out which one is power and which one is data? Though it won't take many iterations to find out and learn. Will try.

Dr. Bott's T3 hub will fake the iPad2 into thinking the hub is powered, making it portable.

Well, it could be useful info here because many people have stated that the iPad with Camera Connection Kit has very high jitter, and it seems that some DAC may be a better choice than others.  I get my best results with my Pico DAC only (with up-sampling ASRC that should reduce jitter) and my DACmini.  (never tried iPad with my PS Audio Perfectwave DAC)

Because of this concern, I've ordered iStreamer.  It is not the best DAC, but guaranteed to work with all iDevices!

The camera connector is so power sensitive that even when wall powered and a T3 it overloads...

These may have been posted previously, but I got a chance to test them at a recent mini-meet...

iBasso D12 - iPad 1 - Did not work.  Too much power required.  Switching off charging mode did not help. (See post below, works with T3)

Cypher Labs AlgorRhythm Solo - iPad 1 - ALO USB cable, not the camera connection kit... Maybe a no brainer, but confirmed it worked.

Actually the D12 works fine with the dr boot t3. The D6 does not, though...

Leckerton can make a mod to the 6hs that makes it Camorra kit compatible....

Elias, this is getting really OT and becoming an ad for your product as a manufacturer.  Can direct interested people to go to another more appropriate thread so you don't hijack this one and turn it into another endless jitter debate?

Believe me, I am as annoyed by 'subversive advertising' as anyone, and I certainly don't mean to do that.  I'm trying to stick to the facts and answer questions that are asked (someone asked whether jitter really had an effect in this day-and-age, so I provided a objective measurment that shows a contemporary 'high-end' machine that struggles with jitter).

If there are any particular passages that are above and beyond answering a posters question and/or providing objective information, please point them out and I'll remove them from my post.

Best,
Elias

Has anyone tested the Musiland Monitor 02 work with an iPad?

I'm very happy with iStreamer.  It is made specifically for iDevices and it sounds great.  It acts as dock which charges the iDevice, and if you use iPod, it even let you control the volume with iPod.

Have anyone tried the Fostex HP-P1?

At first I was having problems- 'clicks' every few seconds.  But then at the suggestion of cooperpwc, I just did a simple reboot and it seems perfectly fine!

Edit:  At the suggestion of cooperpwc, I went back to the iPad and did a reboot (just normal, not 'hard'), plugged in the HP-P1, and it works just fine!  No clicks or any other noises during playback.  Thank you so much for the tip!  This gives me more options and may come as a relief to others.  Sorry Fostex!  I'm still curious why they didn't list at least the 1G iPad on their compatibility list.   http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/566026/fostex-hp-p1-portable-amplifier-and-dac-for-ipod-iphone-short-review-and-impressions-thread

Just to keep the thread up to date, I finally got my CCK and it seems to work perfectly with the iQube v2.  I did just top off the internal batteries (replaced with Eneloop) so this is as full of a charge as it's going to get.  I did notice that when the iQube v2 is connected to the iPad, the amp goes into charging mode.  This means that it will probably drain the iPad battery sooner than if the iPad were simply providing a digital (or analog) signal.  Also FYI, the volume on the iPad becomes disabled when feeding the v2.  You can still slide it- it just doesn't have any effect.  This seems different from when you plug in an Apple approved device (such as the HP-P1) where the volume slider displays "Dock".  This is with iPad 1G v 4.3.5.

I have an iPad 2 and Predator and if I'm reading things in this thread correctly to get it to operate as a DAC I need the CKK and the Dr. Bott T3.  Can someone confirm this is correct.

If it is correct, the T3 is on backorder and won't ship until October.  Is there another solution?
