For a rather small amp, i'd take the Hip-dac too.
At home listening, i do trick the Him everytime or use the FiiO BTR5 via bluetooth or usb.
The only thing the Him could "damage" is the battery bc of the higher drain.
The chip itself should be save.
Although for home listening i prefer a desktop amp rather than listening to the LG.

Just got my V40 today, as cheapish (£250) upgrade over my V30.

Loving the bigger screen on it, despite the notch.

Although the 40 needs a touch more volume to drive my Solaris 2020s to the same level, using the same Dac filter (sharp), it's tuning is noticeably improved over the 30 - less in your face and more euphonic, richer and more musical. Am digging it.

Hmm, does the BTR5 has good power? I think its possible to buy a bluetooth module to the xduoo xd 05 pro , but the xduoo didnt measure to well at ASR. Doesnt matter if its beyond the human hearing though. I maybe buy a desktop amp instead since im waiting for the ie800. Oppo and ie800 on lg v40 and maybe O2 dac/amp home with my modded m1060.. Hmmm. Would prefer s portable though.

Anyone updated their V40 to Android 10 yet and if so, any audio differences?

Our range features various products. Some are expensive, but hip-dac priced at $149 is quite affordable :)

It depends on headphones, please see this handy calculator:

https://ifi-audio.com/home/headphone-calculator/
Hmm, but does the hipdac has enough power to drive planar's? Due to you calcuator ,hip dac will drive them(u only had M1070 listed but its quite similiar to m1060. M1070 has 10 ohm more) to around 119 db direct and 107db high and 95 db ultra with IEmatch. Thats stupidily high, but people say that olanars need wattage to open up? And the hip dac doesnt have even 1 w? Hmm .. Im sure im missing something here.. Does more wattage do anything at all if thr volume is high enough? Is it scientifically proven?=)

Your "planars" have 96dB/mW efficiency, just 4dB shy of some highly efficient dynamics like the Sennheiser HD600 (which would have been widely regarded as highly efficient, if their impedance were lower. Your m1060's impedance *is* much lower.) These are not your father's power hungry planars at all (think HiFiMan HE-6); most portable headphone amps (including the Hip DAC, but I'm not limiting myself to iFi products here) will be able to drive, even overdrive them.

I don't put much stock in the idea of power opening up headphones anyway. Underpowered headphones would audibly distort, not be "flat" or "closed in" in some mysterious way. If your headphones sound "flat" or "closed in" in some way to you, driving them 10 times louder isn't going to change that fact, and you can't stuff any more power into them without them getting louder as a result (power reserves of an amp are just that, "reserves"). You might find yourself served better by looking into mods for the 'phones:

1. via physical mods of the 'phones themselves
2. by modifying the signal to be fed into the 'phones to complement them better. What's your complaint currently? Weak bass? Try XBass on an iFi amp. Something else? Try MSEB on the free HiByMusic app.

Cheers,
Joe
