LG V30

Looking at the link @artpiggo posted, it may be ok(?).

to be fair, it's not only plaguing LG. All other audio-centric phones suffer from same thing (some models of vivo, meizu, etc). This is android limitation. The only audio-centric phone that play DSD natively is onkyo cmx1, but yeah, its phone features seriously are outdated (it's still stuck with android 6 and no update foreseen lol).

The UAPP team has recently begun development of a driver that will play music through a Hi-Res internal DAC. This sounds exactly like what's needed to overcome that Android sampling nonsense.

More information here: http://www.extreamsd.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=580

Has anyone signed up as a beta-tester? How's the progress and are we anywhere near a finished product yet?

Thanks for this info! I'm a big fan of UAPP - it's the only app I've found that can correctly output all formats (including non-upsampled 44 kHz FLAC!) to my Hugo 2. It'd be awesome if they can also get this to drive the ES9218P in the V30 :)

yes, that's what i read too. So for V30 owners, there'll be resolution in next upgrade. the upgrade is rolling out in korea

Beta-testing only, unfortunately. I'd expect a beta for US users sometime next month with a roll-out in Jan-Feb.

If I remember correctly, the V10 didn't get Nougat till early this year.

It is called DoP or DSD over PCM playback. It will stream via 176.4kHz PCM.

Yes...there's one difference from a regular DAP...even though the chip can decode it, the V30 is not going to play the DSD file natively and rather use the DOP method...I forgot about that. That's a conversion so it wont be as pure as native...

As for power, I am thinking of picking up either the Sennheiser 800 (good discounts) or 800s @ 300 ohms. Unlike nearly every other smartphone, the V30 has enough amp power to do justice to these hi-end cans? Has anyone tried either or both sets? Or I may go for broke for the new Focal Clears...which are only 55ohm :)
