LG V20 Sound Quality

i'm sure this has been raised earlier in this thread, but isn't the headphone output volume on the v20 extremely low? i just tested same and needed to nearly max it out to get reasonable volume, unlike my htc10. it boggles the mind that lg would go through the exercise of implementing all these dacs and audiophile features without a decent amp.

Yes it has been mentioned before :).

You need to trigger aux or high impedance mode. Aux mode is more than enough for iems.

You would think that implementation would work better. Or maybe just have a user adjustable setting. So inconvenient. Might as well get an iPhone 7 and carry around a dongle if you're gonna have to carry around something that tricks the settings, lol.

HTC 10 rocks :).

That said i still use my V10 but overall prefer H10. But V10 do have a lot of power in high impedance mode.

sorry to belabor, but it appears i would need a plug-in adaptor to trigger the aux or high impedance mode? thanks for your help

To those of that mentioned the highs roll off, of course they do. The h3s are rated for 20-16khz. I thought it would be a problem but tbh they sound very good. A little mid forward, not able to punch but still plenty there and neither is the sound fatiguing nor wearing them fatiguing as far as comfort and sound. For free they sound pretty damn good. For $150, not so much. Maybe $100 tops if you want something comfortable, light and pleasant and can listen to for hours on end. I can easily fall asleep with these.

@TJ Max

I won't be home until Wednesday, but I can try my T1s with the V20 then and let you know what happens. I have the first version of them so mine is a 1/4" plug and will require an adapter. Not sure how that will affect things, but I'll give it a try and let you know. Very odd that the T1 is not triggering high impedance mode. Maybe they're 601 ohm and therefore "off the chart" :)

Were you able to test you T1.

Looks like mine kick it into external mode, not high-impedance mode. Strange. Is that the same you're seeing?

Yes! That's also my problem. So both the 1st and 2nd gen T1s are not detected as headphones.

So what's the general consensus on the V20 in terms of audio performance (whether if it's noisy and if it gives enough power)?

I was thinking of slapping a portable amp/dac onto it if the output is pretty low.

EDIT: I read the posts above on this page. I don't have the phone yet and don't know specifically how it works, so are we enabling the "High Impedance Mode" in settings or are we getting a extension with a volume control?
