LG V20 Sound Quality

for users who rooted your V20, maybe you can try modify this line in /system/build.prop
audio.offload.pcm.16bit.enable=false
change "false" to "true", save, reboot.

maybe lossless redbook contents can be played without resampling in a generic player then, i'm not sure...

hiby uses es9218. so does every player.

I'm confused about that. So there is no point using PowerAmp Alpha releases to benefit from QuadDac HiFi and we can use Google Play version?

If there's only one set of DAC(s) in the smartphone, any app must physically go through said DAC(s) to make sound, however "compromised" the signal may be (digitally / programmatically) before going through said DAC.

it depends.

for 16/44.1 redbook CD content, poweramp alpha still is a better choice, read post #1762 for recommended settings.
you can use the google play beta version (alpha 703) or the forum version (alpha 704), no real difference for V20.

for lossless hi-res content, a generic music player like the stock player or google music, etc. is better than poweramp.

this is only for 16 bit files right?

damn. i think there is a "max sample rate" or something like that which you could change from 192000 to 384000.

there is. it is /system/etc/audio_policy.conf
you can play with it, but it probably will not work and it's possible to brick your device.
my bet is LG already made the necessary configurations in it.

oh thank god i'm glad it's at least possible.here's what i've seen:

no mention of "384000" hopefully someone creates a mod
it has both the quad dac and the stock dac
no mention of dsd

i've seen "AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_32_BIT|AUDIO_FORMAT_AMR_NB|" does this refer to 32bit playback?

After thoroughly checking to make sure this one has ALL the phone/data bands that my V10 didn't, pulled the trigger on a H990DS version V20. Sounds like a real step up from my V10, can't wait to hear it for myself.

Question, I use Poweramp Alpha ver.703. Is that going to work on this phone?

Had some tinkering on NeutronMP

Choosing
A. Generic Driver results: AudioTrack (JNI)
B. USB Driver results: OpenSL ES

Which is built in DAC?

AudioTrack (JNI) have glare in it. OpenSL ES is more analog like to my ears.

Have a Black H990DS too.
