So, how is the year in metal shappin up for ya?

A little slow starting for me.

Here's what's currently on my 2015 playlist:
  • Faith No More (currently streaming)
  • Bell Witch
  • Tribulation
  • HOF
  • Ufomammut
  • leviathan
  • Wilderun
  • Goatsnake
  • Sigh
  • Thou (from last year)
  • Monolord
  • The Gentle Storm
  • Royal Thunder

So, my 2015 collection is a little heavy on doom/stoner and prog. Not as much extreme metal. Not consciously really, but this is what I'm currently listening to. Looking forward to some good BM/DM as the year progresses. And, wondering how the new Maiden will sound.

Non Metal

  • Steven Wilson
  • Courtney Barnett (grungesish band from Australia w/ a dynamite female front woman-amazing lyricist- rock AOTY for me as of now
  • White Lung-pop punk female fronted band
  • Blur

no specific order, but some of my favorites this year.
Sarpanitum - Blessed Be My Brothers
Pyramaze - Disciples of the Sun
Khors - Night Falls onto the Fronts of Ours
Sulphur Aeon - Gateway to the Antisphere
Shining - IX - Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends
High on Fire - Luminiferous
George Kollias - Invictus

definitely finding it a bit slow too. A bunch of albums i was looking forward to were a bit underwhelming.  Last half of the year has some promising stuff for me though.

I'm throwing this in. I think it's fantastic doom as good as anything I've heard this year. It's fronted by a huge larger than life 300 pound singer/guitarist/songwriter who was in the late 80's/early 90's grunge band Tad. I didn't listen them, but from reviews I read, their albums were really well regarded. I'm going to check them out. But, they never had commercial success. They toured and played w/ Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc. Just never got the rewards. Years later, drug abuse and now 47, this is Tad Doyle's first album in a decade and a half. This album is monstrous. I think this is going to get some buzz.

I got to see Tad open for Soundgarden a couple of decades ago.  He threatened to stage-dive on a guy up front who was being an *****.

He didn't need to make the threat twice!

thanks for the update- I will try to listen to this over the weekend!

We are so lucky.
They have test pressings of the new release in vinyl on their Facebook page. Maybe the very last thing I expected to happen this year?

Still looks like an October release!

I want to check out Kataklysm and Jungle Rot. Is the whole album out? I Haven't been able to find an affordable copy of Acturus' new one. That's on my list for sure. I should listen to the new Moonspell and Gorgoroth, too.
