Lets Talk Metal

I'd say that the new Dream Theater album is somewhat fresh. False Awakening Suite, Enigma Machine, The Bigger Picture, and Surrender to Reason had parts that stood out, but the rest were more or less typical DT. Illumination Theory felt more like several songs stitched together than one consistent piece, but it had a few great moments. I can't help but think they just wanted to include a "long song" to please the prog folks, though. Overall it was more of a step in a new direction than ADTOE, but I'm still waiting to hear something new and incredible from them. I know I keep emphasizing that, but they've been playing practically the same material for 10 years. =/

I am so bored of DT. Really.

Chilling in yet another hotel room listening to wolves in the throne room. Tonight, it's sitting very well with me, I'm not always a fan.

I do wish I had my home headphones lol

Oh and to stay on topic, I've been bored of dream theatre for a long time although the tracks I've heard from the new one sound not bad

x2. I was still hoping. I was kind of eager to hear what influence Mangini had on the songwriting, but if you hadn't told me there was a change I wouldn't have even known.

I have been listening to a lot of early black metal recently as ive seriously overlooked the genre.
Satyricon- nemesis divina is a fine example of old school black metal
Marduk- opus nocturne is excellent too..

For whatever reason other than I love my playlist, I'm putting together the music-list of the mp3s I walk around with all the time. A list of all the bands albums that make 1370 songs.

Who cares?

I actually like seeing em play their old songs live. I still like listening to em live on CD play the old stuff.. This will have good live sound. Not for everyone though.
