I've tube rolled more than I even wanted to with the Pacific. I can't even imagine adding adapters and going further down the rabbit hole lol.. but maybe some day in the far future.

As you will. Being open to using an adapter, even the inexpensive Chinese made ones on eBay, opens a realm of really good tubes.

I ended up using C3G’s in the Pacific, that was a win for me, I wasn’t a fan of the postal tubes that are currently popular, and ended up going back to KR242’s, so it’s not like adapters are a panacea.

Could someone pleas advice me on the best 12au7/12bh7/ecc40 or other equivalents that can be used on my Baltic 4 to get the best bas response without sacrificing the top extension. I have some new production 12bh7, just a standard tube wich the Baltic was delivered with and they really give a strong and good bas but they are lacking other quality.

Grateful for your advice, specially if someone has played around with a lot of nos 12bh7.

I don’t have much experience with these tubes as my TRP is setup for 6.3V octals but here is a short list of other 12V tubes with the same base as the 12BH7 that you can use to search for direct comments of others on the forum.

Tubes with base: 9A
12AD7 12AE7 12AT7 12AU7 12AU7A 12AV7 12AX7 12AX7A
12AY7 12AZ7 12AZ7A 12BH7 12BH7A 12BZ7 12DF7 12DM7
12DT7 12DW7 12FV7 12U7

I recommend the Telefunken G73-R red label.

Thank you! It's a really great tube that I’ve actually already had, but I think the ECC40 (with an adapter) sounds better in every way.

It's a mine field. Lot's of 12au7 out there. The early and mid 1950's Mullard, Amperex and Valvo are highly regarded, but also very collectable so $'s.

This will give you an idea of a few of the 12au7 out there:

Wow! I had the opportunity to try a Poseidon in my system at home today and I am completely amazed and stunned by how good it is, it’s insane!!! Unfortunately, it is a bit out of reach, so I am wondering if it’s worth upgrading my Baltic 4 to an Atlantic 3 TRP? Do you think the Atlantic will be seeing an upgrade soon?

Poseidon is so goooood. I remember when I was starting to look into lampizator and was talking with Rob, he mentioned that the Atlantic is aimed for tube rollers so if that's up your alley go for it, if not, I would keep the Baltic. Just my two cents.

I’ve bin tube rolling the Baltic for a while now with tp adapters and all, spending lots of money trying to make it something it’s not. :/ then connecting the Poseidon with stock tubes and it is sooo much more!
I’m not interested in the tube rolling per say, just want to take the sound quality to the next level.

Talking about Lampi -- I have a GG 2/3: Anyone know of somewhere I could get a Valvo G2504 tested? I've contacted three places: Western Glow, Band-Width Audio and tubeterra. The first doesn't have a tester that can take a 2504, while the other two haven't responded yet. I'm in Montana, but there's nobody dealing with tube gear here, as far as I've been able to determine.

@FLXI apologies if you already saw this, but, perhaps it *might* help just a bit, or not. This is the chart that used to appear on the Lampi Poland website. It is Lukasz' subjective interpretation. So, I guess the solution is, just buy a Horizon.

That's the right attitude. I see quite a few folks tube rolling trying to turn their piece of gear into something it isn't. Just imo, but you must like your piece of gear with the cheapest tubes. Everything else is then just a bonus on top of what you already have.

I have the Atlantic TRP. To get a decent upgrade I think I'd need to go to the GG3 or one of the Pacifics, but that isn't happening due to cost. And then of course, if you upgrade one component significantly, then you also need to upgrade the other components to get the full benefit...
