Any idea if an America purchased E90 energizer would work on European voltages? Will I need a step-down transformer or is a 9V 1A transformer made for 230V all I need and just plug it into the E90? Thanks!

Lifetime warranty on a plastic product... giant battery pack... responds better by phone... what decade is this?
You're forgetting: said product originally introduced ca. 1991, still made in the USA, includes a place in its bag for your walkman/discman, etc.
Oh and you can send in a paper registration card upon completing the purchase.
Kidding aside: I don't have an issue with how Koss does things, because it still gets the job done.

Is there an echo in here? http://www.head-fi.org/t/581491/koss-esp-950-thread/2295#post_13047370

Thanks! So, esentially the E90 doesnot care, so a local 9V 1A transformer should always work with it?

Like kevin gilmore said - 9VDC. Koss makes a 220V version of their branded power pack too - no idea if you can buy it separately but I can't imagine why you couldn't. Off hand I don't remember what size connector it is, but it isn't an esoteric connector.

Weird request but can someone compare these to the HD700 or the Audioquest Nighthawk. Not as a which is better sort of thing, just as a point of reference.
I have a JVC SZ200, HD700, and Nighthawk. Looking at these to round out my quirky little family.

The nighthawk is way warmer and laid back. the 950 will sound bass light and ultra crisp and clear compared to the nighthawk. It will sound bright next to nighthawk, since the nighthawk is tuned so laid back.
The HD700 will sound a little veiled compared the 950. The 700 has a very unusual frequency response that I could not get used to. It sounded both peaky, sibilant, and veiled all at the same time. The 950 will sound much clearer with better treble, but may sound bright compared to both.
I'll be getting my 950 in a couple of days, though looking at the graphs and reading countless internet reviews, it seems it will be anything but harsh. Though the ultra clear treble can be perceived as bright [signature of most estats] the 4 - 5K dip should eliminate most sibilance, compared to the HD700 and some other headphones
Or so I understand

Very interesting. I don't find the hd700 veils at all(although it's certainly warm/fun) so having something "clearer" would definitely be a treat

The HD700 is not veiled to my ears either. The estats do have a certain sense of clarity that's hard to find elsewhere. Anyway, I am coming off the new Lambda series to the ESP950 in a couple days, so it will be interesting how these stack up. The Lambdas scored near the top of clarity for me, almost too much, so We'll see how the KOSS fares compared to that :]

One last comparison question. SQ vs the Audeze EL8 Open Back?
I don't think I've heard the EL-8 long enough to make a statement here/ Going off hazy memory, the EL-8 was alright, smoother than the HD700, definitely less trebley, but had a bit more bass impact [still an Audeze]. The estats definitely have more extended and crisper treble there. Soundstage usually isn't very good with planarmagnetics, so the estats should win there, definitely better height and more holographic instrument placement [vs the Lambda].

There's something the HD 700 has that the ESP950 does not - a squintingly sharp 6kHz spike.Very interesting. I don't find the hd700 veils at all(although it's certainly warm/fun) so having something "clearer" would definitely be a treat
The ESP950 is here. I'll post some comparisons note vs an entry Stax L500 system when I've spent more time with the Koss. I am loving the midrange, that's pretty clear from the get-go, especially vocals vs the Staxes.

Give then a little break in time and the bass will fill out. My 950 are end gamers for me. But then I'm a tube lover
