KOSS A250 from KOSS eBay thread

I used about the same amount of tak and I thought that even though the highs were tamed a bit and the lows were more present, the "airyness" was noticibly muffled. Do you notice that as well?

Yes, I think that immediately after I added the tak I did notice a difficult-to-describe increase in the 'solidity' of the sound. I didn't really notice it after the first couple minutes. A little more of that closed-can reverb, I guess... I think I kind of like it.

Incidentally, I think the tak increased the isolation a bit, too.

Thanks,
Todd

My A130's drivers have cut in and out ever since I received them and now the right driver won't work at all. I'm going to send them in for repair (they are waiving the typical $6 shipping). It's frustrating - they were sounding very good when they were working. Also, I really like the look, even though they feel a little bit cheaply made.

Your Karma doesn't suffice? Mine is literally deafeningly loud, maybe you got a bad pair or something?

Hey, Craig, I "borrowed" your team designation. I hope you don't mind another member.

If you would like to know my qualifications for Team 60 ohm, I currently have 9 pair of Koss phones that use this awesome driver. A250, UR40, Sportapro, KSC75 (x2), KSC55, KSC35 and Ford/Koss Mac5 (x2).

Thanks!

Dang!
Didn't try it with the Karma, I was using my Echo Indigo and for some reason the volume was limited by something so I went back in and waggled all the settings around and now it's where it should be, nice and loud. Thanks

It was either 60Ω or the Ω Concern.. but that was a bit too much of a Rush fan's inside joke.. so 60Ω it is

Oh and smeggy. don't these cans rule with the Indigo eh? I just finished listening to Sultans of Swing on these.. damn that's one smoking guitar solo.

needs more cowbell though

Yeah, once I got the problem fixed they took off like a rocket. The Indigo drives them well with stacks of headroom. I really like these fones, they sound fantastic with the right music and are a pretty exciting listen. They have a nice brashness about them and speed which suits rock no-end. As long as the recording is decent they shine. Just as suited to rock as Grado but without the graininess and the family sized treble spike. I need to change the headband though, I don't find it very comfy as it is.

Overall, a big two thumbs up for both sound and value.

after about 75 hours of burn in (well a good 10 hours have been "on-head") I think these A/250's are starting to ease off on the top end. I thought they were very bright during earlier listening, but they seem better (or I am getting used to them). Definately not as smooth as my K601 or as easy/rolled off as my HF-1 w/ Flats, but reasonable.

After more use, I changed my mind about comfort. The lack of rotating cups make them kind of annoying after a while and they pleather pads make you sweat. With the weather in the 100's (average indoor temp in my place is between 85-89F) the last few days, I have noticed that headphone listening in general causes sweaty ears, but the A/250's are especially bad.

I almost feel like I should see if someone would want to trade these for their K81DJ's, but at the same time I am not sure I want to let these go. I know I could really use a sealed can, but maybe I should just get them separately...though I already feel like I own too many headphones (might not be normal for a HeadFi-er).
