Kogan 8GB MP4 - The Player That Came From Nowhere:

This is just a guess, but going back to my original post the owner of Kogan (the company) did mention he hand picks the parts for his products. Pushing parts aside he may of also self decided the solution he wanted for Kogan. For example, flac support, camera , memory capacity etc.

The way you guys are finding several very similar but with different specs. features under different brands suggests to me these are like a kit you put together in bulk order then the main supplier builds them around your specs, features, your brand name on the casing etc etc...

Flac support and sd expansion are the only reasons I took notice (especially the flac support). Anyway that's just a hunch I have.

i don't think so. On alibaba you can find different oriver mp4 models. There's Oriver O2 with 1.8" screen and no flac support and no camera, Oriver O3, O5, O5-1, O5 A with 2.4" screen, camera and flac support. I think they're just rebranded. If only Oriver had a shop on aliexpress...

Oh ok, that makes sense. =)

(Edit again...)

Okay after looking at pictures of Oriver, Ritmix RF-7650 and DJix M550, a lot of the pictures of the backsides of the devices are inaccurate, because a lot of them have just been photoshopped or rendered. I could find pictures of Ritmix RF-7650 that match the Kogan all around. I guess they are all the same parts, unless Kogan somehow ordered better parts to their device.

FLAC support, and multilanguage support are there, so that's promising, but what about other software differences. Reviews on different sites for RF-7650 aren't exactly raving about it, mostly complaining about some issues. People don't seem to pay attention to the SQ much, which is expected for device like this.

Shows that it matches spot on all around as far as housing goes, menus looks very similar as well.

Kristy Star's review says something about great audio quality (google translate).

But... this one has radio and Kogan doesn't?

I think all the companies do a custom order and nobody is going to know unless they have a Kogan and one of the other ones.

We won't know unless H20Fidelity do us a favor and order one of them.

I really don't understand why a company on ebay doesn't  offer international shipping while there is so much demand.

One way to judge demand is to check out the page visits to the one Kogan page that shows the product. If have seen 370 visits in less than a day?

Crazy as it sounds I was listening to SRH440 last night from Kogan then switched over to DX50 / iBasso D Zero rig with pure silver cable. While the iBasso rig had slightly better layering and soundstage it still didn't have the same detail levels of Kogan alone.

The DX50's internal amp should be bettr than the D-Zero.

You would think so, but it's not the case for me, mainly in the area of soundstage and layering, I find the D Zero more spacious personally especially in width.

Keep in mind I have never been a fan of the internal amp section on DX50 and purely use it from line out. :)
