Good morning, everyone.

Let's talk about the Kennerton Wodan...

A headphones (mask?) which does not leave its user indifferent!

If you want to know everything about the Kennerton Wodan, you can read this very complete and instructive review in the link below, certainly written in Russian, but also very easily translatable via google translate: http://boizoff.com/?p=607

Otherwise, the RAA measurement site has just re-evaluated the Kennerton headphones; in particular, we can now compare the different Kennerton headphones measured this time with the same pads (stock) (ECL-01 pads).

I was thus able to compare, on the same graph, the Wodan, the Thekk and the Thror.
The relative 0 dB is reported, for these three headphones, at the hinge frequency of 800 Hz.

Note: Just ignore the peak at 5.5 KHz, and also sometimes the trough at 9 KHz, this is most of the time an artefact of the RAA site's artificial head measurements.

A few comments to make on these curves: the author of the Russian review (above) of Kennerton Wodan, sometimes finds a certain hardness of sound in the upper medium - low-treble, around 3000 Hz, on bad hard recordings in this frequency range; this is also what I could hear, with the Thror, compared to the Thekk, on female voices, on this frequency (3 KHz) quite critical to the ear.

Otherwise, concerning the reproduction of human voices (male and female), once again, I come back to the importance of the necessity of the best possible linearity of the frequency response of headphones, on the one hand in the frequency band 80 - 1000 Hz (to reproduce with tonal accuracy the fundamental frequencies of the human voice, from the lowest to the highest : from the Bass to the Soprano voice); and on the other hand, on the importance also of the best possible linearity in the frequency band 1500 - 4500 Hz, critical for timbres, where the higher harmonics (in the upper medium - low-treble) of the highest higher harmonics of human voices can be heard, and also of many musical instruments.

In this sense, the Kennerton Thekk, precisely in these two frequency bands very important to the ear (80 - 1000 Hz) and (1500 - 4500 Hz), is perhaps the most linear of these three headphones, and therefore the best to reproduce faithfully, both the tonality (fundamental frequencies between 80 and 1000 Hz) and the timbres (higher harmonics between 1500 and 4500 Hz), of human voices.

Hello again, everyone.

Here is a new "truth" interview of Kennerton's CEO (Valentin Kazanzhi), this time by the person who wrote this very good review of Kennerton Wodan (http://boizoff.com/?p=607 for the Wodan review; and the English version of the same Wodan review: http://boizoff.com/?p=688&lang=en).

Text of this interview written in Russian, but easily translatable by Google Translate: http://boizoff.com/?p=643

All current Kennerton headphones ranges (planar and electrodynamic) are reviewed by Valentin.

We learn that the production of the Thror will soon stop, to the benefit of the Thekk, more popular, and also cheaper to produce.
Priority is given to Thekk and Wodan headphones.

The Thekk is described as a dark headphones (compared to the Thror), or is it the other way around? (the Thror headphones would be a clear headphones compared to the Thekk, with a more dense and massive sound (for the Thekk). All is relative.

The auditory differences brought by the pads with small perforations (ECL-02: 0.5 mm holes) versus pads with larger perforations (ECL-01 stock pads, with 1 mm holes) are also described by Valentin (Nb: roughly speaking, more bass and high-midrange (+ 3 dB) with ECL-02 (small perforations), versus ECL-01 stock pads (large perforations)).
To the question of using pads without perforations for Kennerton planar headphones (to have even more bass), Valentin advises against this solution, because it would be to the detriment of the sound quality: the sound would not be good, due to the lack of ventilation (and air circulation between the two sides of the driver).

Speaking of driver, admire this Thekk (or Thror?) driver.

In this interview, Valentin describes layer by layer, the structure of the driver and its purpose.

Other infos to read also, in this interview, about the new Magni (V3) and the Gjallarhorn.

Enjoy reading this interview. :)

I really recommend to wait until tuesday, when i'll post human translation of the interview in my blog. There's lots of colloquial Russian languge, so Google Translare could leave out all the nuances, that are very important.

Thanks.
Thank you

Kennerton didn't mess around with the Magni!
Fits like a glove (feels even better than the Gjallarhorn did) and sounds very good strait out of the box. Time for some proper burn-in the next few days.
The bass on these can slam if called for but I better give it some more time!

Hi all.

The new version (V3) of the Kennerton Magni, as well as the new Kennerton Custom cables, seem to have been well appreciated by this Russian listener, after the visit of the Kennerton office (in St Petersburg). Source of the news: http://player.ru/showthread.php?t=142284&page=115&p=3060045&viewfull=1#post3060045

It remains to be seen which of these two new Kennerton Custom cables was the most successful, especially with the Thekk: the SCC-003 (silver) or the SCC-02 (cryoprocessed monocrystalline copper OCC) cable?

Eric do you work with Kennerton directly or are you just really into their work? I'm just curious how you know so much about them.
He is an ex KGB !
I knew it!! :smile_phones:

Hello to you.

A modern spy uses Google, to infiltrate the underworld, and Google translate, to translate foreign languages.
In short, it's available to anyone.

Living in France, and being a doctor by profession, you can get an idea of my "connection" to Kennerton.

What's for sure is that I bought a lot of headphones, from them, via the French importer of Kennerton headphones, Pierre Paya : 2 Odin mk1 ; 1 Odin mk2 (Karelian birch) ; 1 Thror (SN 001), 1 Magni V2 and 1 Thekk (Karelian birch, stabilized) (SN 001) ; I also had my brother buy (after advice) another Thror; the Thekk didn't exist yet.
Otherwise, I was able to listen on loan to the Odin Thridi and the first Vali of the name.

I make it a point of honor to remain in the list of the "'best" Kennerton fans.:)
