K1000 #04273
Almost made the terrible mistake of selling them, but keeping them forever now :)
These are better than my studio monitors or any speaker I've ever heard. Just had to get used to the headphone imaging etc.

Btw, anybody know of a SAC K1000 amp for sale anywhere? Looking for one.

More than likely a lot more than they are worth. There was a thread or post somewhere on the forum about refoaming them. From what I remember quite a simple job.

It was an old post by "Fitz" below is a copy/paste.

They're real leather unlike other AKG pads that use pleather, so really only the foam inside them needs replacing. Each one is just a foam wedge glued to a little cardboard rectangle with the leather wrapped over it. Unstick the four flaps on the leather so you can peel it off the cardboard/foam, cut some new pieces of foam to put in, then glue it back together.

That's exactly what i done for the 2 rear pads on mine, took only a few minutes using some memory foam from a pillow and they are good as new.

Not sure about other countries but i was quoted £80GBP + shipping form a UK distributor for the set of 4, what a rip off !!!!

Will never understand why anybody would buy them at that price, another opening for some enterprising Chinese manufacturer, the Western world will eventually price itself out of existence.

Ya.. started missing them and my downgrade (K1000 -> DT800 -> SR80 -> RS1) was short lived. Got some bonus and increment last month and couldnt resist when they came up for sale :) The only difference i can recollect is that the high and lows arent as extended as the old one.. but this is because of the weaker setup that i have now as compared to the almarro and lavry that i had previously.Waiting for the Arcam R-DAC to be available so that i can upgrade.
