Tyll Hertsens is asking someone to send him a pair of the K1000 - http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/id-love-measure-more-classic-headphones
It would be nice to see some measurements of the bass heavy and bass light versions and compare them, so maybe some folks from the US can send him a few pairs. I would send mine, but I'm quite far from him.)

Hi everyone!
I am currently starting my adventure of building my headphone collection. I would like to have a headphone collection of the best sounding cans for different genres of music.
Now, Currently i am doing fine with the Beyerdynamic DT990, But that's not enough for me! :)
I am wondering if the K1000 is a must have. I am in the hunt for one of these. I know you are not objective, But do you think i should get them for my collection?
Thanks!

Yep, it is still my favorite but only if I adjust it correctly. I remember having tried it seven years ago and disliked it but I didn't know you could adjust the temple pads at the time. I always have the drivers all the way out and the temple pads pushed all the way out. People that complain about the bass being too lean when the drivers are too far probably haven't heard my pair that I replaced the back-foams with thick foam cutouts. Some K1000s just sound different which is why I understand people owning multiple pairs. The irony is that the most mint looking K1000 I've ever seen happened to be the worst sounding one.

Quick question, prefer tubes or SS? I am either going to design and build some monoblocks with a 6L6 maybe, or build a Pass F5 soon.

In the mean time I will use a Sonamp 275SE since I have one for my TV

I prefer tubes but the F5 sounds great with the K-1000s as well.

Just out of curiosity where did you get the foam pads from?
