Guyz, do you know why they use wood?  Is the housing wood?  Is this all for sonic purposes or is it just for looks?

One can only guess but wood has high inner dampening. It might dampen all kinds of vibrations at the driver and housing.

In every way possible. UE900 lacked bass and highs didn't sound natural to me. To be honest I don't like many BA earphones and seem to prefer dynamic driver sound more. If you like BA sound then maybe you might like the UE900 more. I'm sure there's got to be a few others here who have had both as the UE900 is somewhat popular because many hoped it would have been an improvement to the triple fi and I think it was a step backwards.

The wooden diaphragm is used for sonic purposes just like Sony used biocell for sound purposes...the diaphragm is supposedly stronger then titanium and fast as biocell, the sound is clean clear transparent with natural timbre and warmth...no bloated sound just oh so natural ...i love it so much....and they are a beauty to look at
