I love the sound of the FX850, but I can't get a perfect fit with the tips.   I've tried several other brands of tips as well.  Maybe it's the weight of the earphones that makes it feel like it's always ready to fall out.   It makes me want to go out and get a CIEM so I won't have fitment problems, but these babies sound really sweet for the money.

Hello! I think this is my first post here(long time lurker

).

I'm very interested in these considering that the FX700 is one of my favourite universal. I'm just wondering if the FX750 is the same size as the FX700? The FX850 looks huge, and if the sound quality isn't too different, I will probably prefer to go for the FX750 instead(I have very little interest in changing cables).  Also, does anyone know how does these compares to the Sennheiser IE800? Thanks.

Hello and congrats on taking the courage for your first post!

The FX750's front part and nozzle are the same size and angle as the FX700, but the rear part is slightly less tapered and about 2mm longer.

Hello everybody - I have been lurking for many many years and this is my first post.  My VSonic gr07 bit the dust (left earpiece stopped working) and I am looking to buy a new IEM.  I was very close to purchasing the Dunu DN-1000 until I saw this thread and am now considering the FX750.

Does anybody have both?  How would you compare the two?  I would be listening to a variety of music (pop/metal/etc).

Thanks.

The price of the 850 is slipping a bit - down to $375 shipped - I am waiting for it to get under $325

I'm also pretty close to ordering the 750 (Oddly enough left ear of my IEM died too)

Yes, you are. The plan is to send all three on tour by end of the month.

Quick first impressions of the "wooden threesome" (aka FX650/750/850):

  1. FX650/750 have the same fixed cable, with shorter strain reliefs than the FX850 and are easier to wear over-ear than the latter.
  2. All three are bass cannons.
  3. All three have roughly similar sound signatures.
  4. FX750 are very close to FX850 in resolution and refinement.
  5. FX650 seem like a step down from FX750/850 (but still sound great).
  6. FX650 are less sensitive and need more driving power than FX750/850.
  7. j444 mod works great on all of them (lowering bass quantity / improving bass clarity).

Update on FX750 vs. FX850, after prolonged listening:

  1. Both are overall at the same sound quality level, but sound signatures are slightly different.
  2. Most notable difference: FX750 have more mid/upper bass emphasis, FX850 are more linear throughout the bass range.
  3. FX750 have more lower mids warmth, making vocals sound slightly darker than on the FX850.
  4. FX850 have more upper mids presence, making (female) vocals sound slightly more in-your-face than on the FX750.
  5. Cymbals sound slightly more fleshed-out on the FX750, possibly due to more emphasis in that range or as a side-effect of less forward upper mids.

Apart from their unfortunate bass exaggeration (which needs to be taken care of by mod or EQ), I can't stress enough the outstanding realism of both IEMs with acoustic instruments and vocals. They show the limitations even of much more expensive phones in that regard.

Hi guys,

As an avid fan of the Zero Audio Carbo Basso, I have been looking at possibly upgrading to the FX650/FX750. I was just wondering how they are with pop music and bass heavy genres? Also are there any potential issues with fit or comfort or is everything good on that front?

I'm in need of a new pair of IEMs ASAP since my Bassos broke and I've no idea what to get.

Count me in the FX850 club. Managed to get it for roughly USD$335, due to preordering. Will get my hands on it sometime next month when stocks come in. Looking forward to it as a FX500 owner, which I felt had amazing timbre for drums but had tizzy highs. Only managed to audition the FX750, since the FX850 demo set hadn't arrived yet. The FX750 sounded plenty good but decided to spring for the FX850 for the replaceable cable. Would be interested to hear the thoughts of those who have or used to have the FX500.

Hmm strongly considering the HA-FX750. Amazon is selling new between 230-275 + shipping. I purchased a pair of EPH-100 and was not satisfied, as I am pretty sure they were fake. Looking to upgrade from a pair of Klipsch S4i. I'm a bit of a basshead... but still like a capable, clear and concise mid/high range.

Yep, I'm looking at the exact same pair as an upgrade from my Carbo Bassos.
