^ Sorry, I haven't heard the FXZ200.
Hello! I think this is my first post here(long time lurker).
I'm very interested in these considering that the FX700 is one of my favourite universal. I'm just wondering if the FX750 is the same size as the FX700? The FX850 looks huge, and if the sound quality isn't too different, I will probably prefer to go for the FX750 instead(I have very little interest in changing cables).
Hello everybody - I have been lurking for many many years and this is my first post. My VSonic gr07 bit the dust (left earpiece stopped working) and I am looking to buy a new IEM. I was very close to purchasing the Dunu DN-1000 until I saw this thread and am now considering the FX750.
Does anybody have both? How would you compare the two? I would be listening to a variety of music (pop/metal/etc).
Thanks.
Yes, you are. The plan is to send all three on tour by end of the month.
Quick first impressions of the "wooden threesome" (aka FX650/750/850):
- FX650/750 have the same fixed cable, with shorter strain reliefs than the FX850 and are easier to wear over-ear than the latter.
- All three are bass cannons.
- All three have roughly similar sound signatures.
- FX750 are very close to FX850 in resolution and refinement.
- FX650 seem like a step down from FX750/850 (but still sound great).
- FX650 are less sensitive and need more driving power than FX750/850.
- j444 mod works great on all of them (lowering bass quantity / improving bass clarity).
Update on FX750 vs. FX850, after prolonged listening:
- Both are overall at the same sound quality level, but sound signatures are slightly different.
- Most notable difference: FX750 have more mid/upper bass emphasis, FX850 are more linear throughout the bass range.
- FX750 have more lower mids warmth, making vocals sound slightly darker than on the FX850.
- FX850 have more upper mids presence, making (female) vocals sound slightly more in-your-face than on the FX750.
- Cymbals sound slightly more fleshed-out on the FX750, possibly due to more emphasis in that range or as a side-effect of less forward upper mids.
Apart from their unfortunate bass exaggeration (which needs to be taken care of by mod or EQ), I can't stress enough the outstanding realism of both IEMs with acoustic instruments and vocals. They show the limitations even of much more expensive phones in that regard.
Hmm strongly considering the HA-FX750. Amazon is selling new between 230-275 + shipping. I purchased a pair of EPH-100 and was not satisfied, as I am pretty sure they were fake. Looking to upgrade from a pair of Klipsch S4i. I'm a bit of a basshead... but still like a capable, clear and concise mid/high range.
Yep, I'm looking at the exact same pair as an upgrade from my Carbo Bassos.
