Yeah, I really hate how the sides stick out like that, looks really dumb. I don't know why Denon designed it that way, their headphones are almost always stylish.

It's probable for a good clamp force and seal, I imagine.  I don't think it looks as bad as the AT's gap and odd headband shape when worn.  I don't think it looks too bad.
 
I'm still wondering how they hold up against the D2000...I have a feeling the d2000 will be a lot better...

Movies and games are very good for soundstage. Live albums are often good too.

What is your reference point to evaluate the sound stage & imaging?

The Phiaton PS500 would be another major contender against the D1100.

I have also been waiting for a D2000 comparison. I bought my D2000 few days back and find it extremely hard to take them off my head. They are gorgeous and I can't believe some of the negative comments I've read about them. If the D1100 is at least comparable to D2000, I will have to start saving up yet again.
