The D1001 already has a very solid bass response and a peak in the treble, if the D1100 tops both of this.. ouch!

So the D1100 is like a bassier, warmer version of the D1001?  That sounds good to me. The D1001 was too.... tame for me.

I'm wary of that peak in the treble, though.

So is the denon d1100 an updated version of the older d1000? I'm really how the d1100 compares to the older dx000 models; especially since its in the same price range as the d2000. I found out that the d2000 can be bought for $200 on amazon.com

I currently own the d1001 and i'm thinking of upgrading to a better pair of similar cans. The d2000 comes to mind, but now since the d1100 are available, i'll have to reconsider which one to get.

Seems like the 1100 is a full size can, compared to the smaller 1001, is that correct?

I'm also very interested in how these phones sound compared to the D-2000's; it appears to be using a completely new driver. Since Fostex drivers are used in the D2k, D5k, and D7k series, I wonder if they are the same manufacturer who sources the drivers for the d-1100, aha-100 and NC-800.

Whoa! I just realized that Denon has a NEW ah-d2000 line, which looks very similar to the d-1100. http://usa.denon.com/US/Product/Pages/ProductLanding.aspx?CatId=f28e56fc-7d35-4cf7-88d8-f6ce5abeb128&SubId=175b9aad-12a5-4ba1-9bc0-de397b66258a However, if you look at the picture cross section of the headphone, it appears to be using the same microfiber diaphragm that the D-2000 and D-5000 (old?) use. I can't find a D-1100 listed anywhere on the U.S.A website. I wonder if Denon doesn't have it listed on their webpage because it shares too many similarities with their more expensive ah-a100?

I just thought Denon would change the model number (say D2001) as well if they indeed update the hardware

Going by the picture of the guy wearing the D1100 on the Amazon page, the cups look fairly small, perhaps only slightly larger than the D1000. But the headband looks like it probably juts out away from the head on the sides, lending to a somewhat silly, overly wide look like the V6 or ES7 (w/o modded/bent headband).
