I had been having a big temptation to order K701 since last week. The seed of this temptation was sown after listening to Quint's K701 at Detroit (Royal Oak) meet. Finally ordered one @ Northern Sound and I hope I will get it before next week. Now I must prepare to sell some of my cans (other than HD650) to balance my Head-Fi budget.

I now prefer my 701's to my 650's & SA5000..

My SA5000 is now a different headphone after being recabled. Its not the headphone I used to like. Perhaps the K 701 will make all that go away

Some people told me that I won't like 701 on the first listen. So I don't expect more from it on day one. More than 701, I'm eagerly waiting for my Heed CanAmp to arrive.

EDIT: Never listened to SA5000 before. Nice to see people having positive feedback for 701 over SA5K

Recently, here is the order in which I use my headphones the most:

RS1
K501
K701
DT880
HD650
HD580

For what I paid for them + cable, my HD650s are not being used enough. I need to do something with them.

I am sure you have read about the extensive burn in necessary for the 701s. 500 hours is no joke. You will also need 200 hours for your Heed when it arrives.

Yes, I'm aware of the extensive burning process for K701. Would Heed require 200 hours?? Can I just leave it ON for 200 hours at one stretch? Please advise.

Welcome to the club!

I agree that the burn in period is no joke. Download a pink noise generator or wave file (search this forum), then burn use it to them in for at least 300 hours at a slightly elevated volume from your normal listening. Half way through, the bass will go weak, then come back better towards the end. Don't judge the headphones before that.

Be sure to listen to some jazz! The sound of the sax and trumpets are simply heaven on this pair of cans.

you can leave it on, just make sure (obviously) that music
is running through it to your 701s.
