Some impressions from Chinese site:

Sounds like P200's successor rather than P1u's successor
HDVD800 sounds very complete with the HD800, but P700u sounds better, mainly because it is more detailed. The sound signature is quite similar. The main attraction on P700u is the balanced out.

direct translation ?  cause i'd like to ask why ?( for the first line )

HD800 are great with P1u also.

Can't find the site again sorry ><
And it was only a few lines of impressions. The writer mainly said something about the sound was more like P200's light and refreshing? (Sorry I'm not too sure on what adjectives he used, so don't trust what I write here 100%) rather than P1u's heavy and majestic sound.

The P-1 and P-1u are both coloured amps. Subtly, but it's there.  I had a quick listen with my LCD-3s and the P-700u at the Fujiya Avic show but I was too fatigued to really get any useful idea about how it sounds.

Imo coloured amp is needed with HD800 for the magic.

But yeah if they are aiming for universal headphone amp, an uncoloured amp is the way to go.

Too bad you were fatigued, we could have used some untranslated impressions.

Today, I've set P-700u to my bedroom. I can't tell any difference of sound between P-700u and other cheap amplifiers, lol. But I am really astonished by the super fat power cable comes with P-700u.

Wow, in that case I would sell it and get myself something nice for the cash

Try comparing with your HD-650s. They are the most likely of what is in your profile to show a difference, usually in the width of the soundstage. Lesser amps tend to produce a narrow, congested soundstage with them, whereas better amps provide a wider, more precise one.

Interesting product there. Happened to buy a Luxman before I even knew of this so I'm skipping this one. =D

Very neutral and transparent sound without any excitement and stimulation. I feel especially DENON AH-D7000 works fine with this amplifier. LECUA electronic volume system is quite smooth. Someone says 'a stiff formal sound', I think so, too. Everything is within the limit of assumption. 'The sound exceeding expectation' does not come out from this amplifier.
