Well since it's been so long, you'll just have to add that new Green iem to the tour as well. XD Kidding, but not really. I got to listen to Glacier, Mira and the new over-ear headphones. All super promising.

Just received the tour kit. Not even gonna open Alpha3 as earbuds aren't my thing, but I'm opening Falcon Ultra right now and will get some listening/measuring time in tonight, hopefully.

Okay, spent a little time with Falcon Ultra and here are my cliffnotes.

What I Like (in order descending from best):
  1. Ergonomics are simply excellent for my ear. Small shell that fits very snugly into the recess of my concha bowl and doesn't protrude at all. More IEMs with this shell or shells like it, please.
  2. Looks are simply gorgeous, love the blue mirror finish.
  3. Included cable isn't the best in terms of feel (a bit heavy, a bit stiff) but is still better than a ton of other included cables.
  4. Comes with generous complement of tips.
What I Don't Like (in order from biggest issue to smallest issue):
  1. The sound. It's really intense above 800Hz in the way most of the vaguely Harman + IEF hybrid adherent stuff these days is. Scratchy lower treble with the blue nozzle is really hard to bear. While the Gold nozzle helps this a bit, it doesn't stop the 1-2kHz midrange from being a bit shouty similar to most of the IEF 2020 stuff out there. Overall really nothing new or impressive, which is especially disappointing given how much I enjoy the non-sound aspects.
  2. Because of number one, it's hard to justify the price IMO. I'd take a Truthear Hola over this 10 times out of 10.
  3. As much as some people may like it, I don't like when brands include multiple different tuning options. To me it indicates not having enough confidence in one voicing to stick with it. This is a personal gripe, and I gather many might see it differently, but the fact that DUNU offered two tunings—both of which are mediocre—doesn't help the value proposition like one may think.
Overall I can't say I really like Falcon Ultra or find it remotely worth the price, unless paired with EQ. Gotta say, I don't really know what DUNU's going for these days, but I think they'd be well served by engaging with the community a bit more. We're in a moment where a large portion of the enthusiast space wants something specific in the low and midrange price-tier that most brands aren't offering, and unfortunately DUNU is one such brand that seems disconnected almost entirely from what the people—at least the ones I engage with in a variety of spaces—want in an IEM in 2023/2024.

A comprehensive suite of measurements can be found at my website, with a variety of different insertion depths and tips used. My preferred configuration is shown below. I'll spend more time with it when I get a chance, but I don't see my opinion changing much. Thanks to DUNU and Seb for putting me on the tour.

So Dunu Falcon and Dunu Alpha 3 arrived! Many thanks to all the people involved in the tour!
I will stay with brief and share mostly emotional impressions, since I don´t have that much time to listen and gather my thoughts and I could not compete with you guys in either the technical term or the photo department anyway :D
I will make two posts, one for each product.

First off, Dunu Alpha 3. As a reference, I have heard only TGXEarbuds so far. I have owned two different versions of Serratus, the Totem and Carbon. I have vastly preferred Carbon out of all of those, which are my reference Earbuds for some time now.
The packaging and build quality first off, are superb! Especially the carrying case is super rigid and seems long-lasting, with a great zipper. And the buds are just weighty enough, not cumbersome and fit great in my ears, better than Carbon.

The sound of the Alpha 3 to my ears initially seemed surprisingly balanced! I was expecting a completely different sound after reading the (amazing) descriptions of @cqtek. But after listening to my songs for a while, I began to understand what he was talking about.
Here is my playlist, with short desriptions of sound:
1. Gorillaz - Cracker Island: Missing Sub-Bass frequency, still very punchy and fat sounding
2. Moonchild - The List: great for this kind of small and modern Nu-Soul band kind of sound, warm and fuzzy
3. Brad Mehldau - Little Person: missing some air here, very congested, but intimate
04. Joni Mitchell - Woodstock: good replay of Orchestra and Vocals, warm but still able to retrieve enjoyable dynamics and detail, mostly focused on Jonis Voice though
05 Jacob Collier - It Don´t Matter: Oh this works from the first second, very engaging sound, bass has that crackle and the rest of the song develops around that
06 DOMI & JD Beck - NOT TIGHT: this album is produced very dry and Alpha 3 is perfect for this kind of sound. You do not need much air or treble energy for this kind of song.
07 Vulfpeck - Disco Ulysses (Instrumental): seperation here (and most other songs) is pretty good, another song with modern production, a great fit for Alpha 3
09 Hall & Oates - I´m Just A Kid (Don't Make Me Feel Like A Man): crisp and clear 70s production, here the missing air and sparkle is noticable in the vocals right away, it sounds off throughout the song.
09 Vegyn - Cowboy Allstar: works great for modern compressed producer sound, no complaints here
10 System Of A Down - Toxicity: Amazing punchy sound, a lot of power. A great reproduction of Rick Rubins sound, that was always ahead of its time.
11 Pat Metheny - Bright Size Life: ECM house sound works much better than I thought, maybe lucky to have Jackos bass here as a focal point for the sound signature of these buds. Some missing air on the drums, small stage, but overall enjoyable enough.
12 Laufey - Falling Behind (Live- The Reykjavík Sessions): To me, female vocal reproduction is pretty good on the Alpha 3. Only Guitar and her Voice on this track, emotionally engaging, the last bit of tearjerk is missing due to the recessed highs imo.
13 Word Of Mouth Band - Beaver Patrol: not great. (Modern) big band sound seems to be too much, stage is too small for my tastes and the overall focus just sounds off, just like in song 09. I can listen to this, but I am not sure if I want to.
14 Loris S. Sarid - Orizzontale Verticale: Yeah, much better. Slightly miss a greater stage, otherwise no complaints.
15 Maya Delilah - Harvest Moon: modern jazz/soul, warm and punchy sounding, some dull moments due to lack of treble in drums
16 Terrace Martin - Valdez Off Crenshaw: great track for these buds, works like a charm due to the slight low-fi edge.
17 Lee Fields & The Expressions - Lover Man: very classic funk and soul production, analogue sounding. Can you guess? Sounds great on Alpha 3.
18 Klaus Veen - Ordinary Days V2: Funky EDM/House track. No sub-bass focus needed, so it is a banger.
19 Jack & Owane - Action Boyz: Modern E-Guitar Fusion, frankly just sounds dull and lifeless. It´s all there, but has no bite to it.
20 Johan Lenox - You Up (Chamber Version): Trap and Chamber Music mixed together. Vocals sound great (for what they are). Dynamics are missing and the obvious lack of treble holds the song back from sounding really good.
21 The Dark Jazz Ensemble - Giallo: Jazz Noir. Missing some depth and air here. Sounds pretty good otherwise.
22 Ghost Note - Beastie: Drum reference track. Modern production lets the drums and percussions have enough bite even on the Alpha 3. Good seperation, I approve.
23 Sora - Revans: I expected worse, the details are preserved and the treble is alright on this track! Stage is a little closed off, but that can work to this tracks favor.
24 Jameszoo & Metropole Orkest (conducted by Jules Buckley) - (lose): it works, but it can be a little too much/too little. The dynamics and details of this song are not always reproduced in a way that I would like. Too much mid-bass emphasis.
25 Kendrick Lamar - Count Me Out: Very good vocals, choir is a little too compressed, beat sounds great

Overall I can say, modern punchy productions with small soundstages and mid-bass focus sound great on these buds, better than on my Carbon. But the sound is missing some treble, stage width and depth, sub-bass and better seperation of mids and mid-bass to work as an allrounder for me. Carbon is also no allrounder, but a better fit, since I barely listen to engaging music with buds anyway, buds to me serve a relaxing purpose due to their fit and missing sound isolation.
I enjoyed Alpha 3 immensely and was suprised how much better they were than Carbon on some of these tracks. On others, older productions or Big Band and Orchestra tracks for example, it can seem dull and the stage diffused. So depending on what you listen to, these might scratch an itch or not. :D I think if I would keep these, I would get a lot of enjoyment out of them, they might even be pretty good for videogames.

Impressions of Dunu Falcon will follow soon!

So I finally have some spare time to listen to the Dunu Falcon Ultra. Again, the build Quality of Dunu is top-notch, the cable and accessories are excellent as well. I might have to look out for a Dunu Set in the future... In tested this set with my Baroque tips for obvious sanitary reasons and the pre-installed nozzle.

I am testing with the same playlist, but will only provide a quick overview as I don´t have enough time to give this set a fair shake unfortunately. The DFU seems to have been tuned as a V-Shaped set (with the first nozzle). The second nozzle is supposed to be warmer. Detail retrieval is really nice, the stage is sufficient, bigger than Alpha 3 because of the more pronounced treble. I don´t really get detailed stage discussions for IEMs to be honest, so I can´t say much more about that. I miss mid-bass and especially the mid-section in this set. The sound is detailed, but feels a little hollow sometimes. Don´t get me wrong, it`s a nicely tuned V-Shape. It feels a little to sterile for me, but for very critical listening this is a great sound.
So I did switch nozzles after all, to get another take. This seemed to have pushed mid-bass and mids, which was nice for vocals and made treble less pronounced. Bass is fun but becomes a little too muddy and boomy now though in my opinion. So I actually prefer the first, blue filters sound to get a certain listening experience. I would have preferred a W-Shape style tuning for the second, gold filters though. Please keep in mind that I am critical on a very high level here. This is still a great set and the price seems fitting.

Overall I probably did not spend enough time on this set due to the circumstances, but I doubt my overall opinion would have changed much. I am used to a great W-Style tuning at the moment, or just superb mids with my sets. So this is what I was missing with the Dunu Falcon Ultra and what it provided wasn´t enough to circumvent these desires.
