JMoney Denon Ear Pads

Listen for the click of all 4 tabs going into the slots on the phone, then, with pressure, rotate the tabs into the slots (locking them). You have to have all four click in before rotating.

Still looking for sound changes (if any) impressions.....

The last picture shows the bottom side of the stock pad vs the jmoney pad. The plastic attachment ring isnt on either pad when the photes were taken. What you are seeing on the stock pad is a thin pastic sheet thats incorperated in the pad with a oval cut in the middle with a piece of fabric glued around the edges to it. Very mickey if I do say so. The jmoney pad has no plastic piece in it. The stiffness of the leather combined with a nice piece of fabric that is stretched and stitched into the pad ring makes up the bottom which eliminates the need for the cheesy stock flimsy plastic setup.

Thank you for the information.
I was a bit worried about that part because the one on the stock headphone looked so easy to tear.

However, I think I'm being too much of a little girl with the Denon pads. I took one of the earcups in my left hand and pushed my right hand against the earpad and tried twisting counterclockwise - nothing. I tried a little harder - nothing. Am I being too ginger with it? Are other people putting the earcup against a table or something else firmer?

The instructions given in this thread are crystal clear...that's why I'm so confused as to why it wasn't working for me.

You are doing it right, you just may need a bit more pressure (as evenly distributed across the pad as your hand will allow). It can be a real B**ch to disengage the white ring beneath the earpads in my experience. I have pushed and twisted so hard that I thought I would tear the stock earpads trying to disengage the locking mechanism. Glad to see it wasn't just me having such a problem...

Good luck.

Hello guys!

For the moment I've only read impressions that new Denon leather pads give more comfort and better listening for the people with a small head, but what about a person with a big head and big ears?

Well, I finally got over my fear and really torqued on the pads to get them off - and they finally came off! I will say that the pads on the pair of D2000's that I have at the house as a gift for my dad came off easier (yes, I did use his pair as a test run...and felt bad about it).

I STILL cannot comment on sound since I did this late last night but to answer the question about a big head - they are still VERY comfortable. Not once has "small" been used as an adjective to describe me...or my head. So, I think the additional padding won't be a problem for those of us with big heads

I just received yesterday my pair of Jmoneyaudio ear pads. I read about them here in Head-fi and decided to order a pair to give them a try.

First, they are very well made and the installation was a breeze. You just have to pull the white plastic ring with the 4 small tabs from you all ear pads and place it inside the Jmoneyaudio earpads. I had my all pads modified like the Markl mods but the Jmoeny audio are even thicker and with a better angle.

After locking the ear pads back in my D7000 and placing the headphones in my head I noticed how comfortable and soft touching they are. The make the D7000 fit snugly nice.

The sound changed slightly but noticeable. The bass got better defined and tighter. The highs got tamed just a little bit enough basically to eliminate the sibilance that some people complain about in the Denon.

The biggest change in my opinion was in the midrange. I noticed it came forward from before providing a better presentation in the soundstage. Some people think that the Denon has a recessed midrange. No anymore with this ear pads.

I liked them so much that I order 2 more pair last night to install them in my WD2000 RL Edition and another pair I am working on.

Nice post musicman. One of the things I like about the stock pads is my ears don't get sweaty at all after extended listening sessions. Do you find this to be the case with the leather pads as well? Also, is there an appreciable weight difference between the 2 sets of pads?

Why doesn't Jmoney just list his product on Amazon Marketplace? He'd have the customer base of the entire country. Replacement earpads aren't exactly easy to find for these headsets.

I have not use them long enough to answer for you but based on the initial feel and impressions I think they will be even better since they are real lambskin leather.

I don't think there is a difference in weight that I can notice much at all. The big difference is the fit. I always thought the stock ones made the headphones feel a little bit too loose in my head and with these ones they fit just perfect.

Hello Musicman!

You mentioned better fit. Do you have small or big head?

I use S/M fitted hats and I think my head is around 6 3/4" in hat size. i would say I have a medium head size.

My hat size is 7 1/4 so I don't know if that is a big head or not.

The JMoney Denon pads are more comfortable than the stock pads for my head and ears. The opening on the JMoney pads fits around my ears just right. It almost feels like they were custom made for my ears. They really are something to behold...Jeremy is a wizard with leather.

That settles it, Im ordering a pair, specially since I am a wuss to stuff my current pads and if this makes a large difference I will get a pair for D2000 and do a full up work on em.

This is soooo much better than having to cut up leather on stock pads just switch between the 2

IMO for the price is a no-brainer....
I did in my stock ones the Markl mod but these are so much better.
