Hi everyone, first post in a long time. I have searched the internet for reviews on the JH3A but info was very sparse. I kinda know about the fall out in 2010 but since 2011 they should have shipped quite a few but there are very few reviews.
 
I was wondering how good are they as I'm interested in these. One review Audiophiliac said it was as good as the LCD-2 with Lyr. 
Can anyone chime in?

So I've owned a crap ton of headphones and these are my "go to" headphones.

I love the Audeze stuff both the 2 and 3 but I prefer the detail, speed and tone of the 3a system.

BTW I'll likely get a Audeze3 to compliment the 3a someday but right now I'm really content with what I've got

Anaxilus, yes that eas a compliment. The reviewer said its with the top teir headphones.

Yes the sound quality is good through the analog and usb but reaches world class sound with the mini spidf input. You'll need something like the Halide bridge or the Stello U3 plus a mini spdif adapter (Moon Audio makes a good one)

Nice find Kunlun.  I have yet to see this review.  Quite impressive!

Very nice review! I am tempted to save up for the 334. One of the things in the review that I don't understand is that the 334 was used with the Alo/clas combo, but the jh3a was used without the clas. My understanding is that the jh3a is not a DAC. Not sure if that would have affected the quality of sound.

That review is an eye opener.  After reading it I searched around Head-Fi and found many glowing reviews about the FitEar product line.  There were reviewers who preferred their customs over the universal 334 but not by a lot.  I have a hard time fathoming how a universal could outperform a great custom like the JH16 simply because of the differences in seal.  I don't have much experience with universals but can they seal the ear canal like a custom?  
 
The JH3A does have a DAC built in.  My thinking is that Steve Guttenberg (the reviewer on CNET) used the S/PDIF input of the JH3A to make the comparison fair (apples to apples).  He is a big fan of JH Audio so his write-up is interesting.
