JH Audio JH16 Pro First Impressions

Don't UM offer any kind of warranty on their work? They can upgrade dual & triple driver IEMs to 6 or 8 driver beasts so surely they have the parts to do it?

BTW, as this is the JH16 impressions thread:

Receive my JH16 about 10 days ago. Coming from my UE11, its taken me this long to get used to them. I am appreciating them now, but I was expecting a bit more. I found the treble to be VERY hot, & the amount of sibilance is pretty high. I never got any sibilance on the UE11, & didn't expect anything different after supposedly upgrading. Not completely happy with them really. They have to go back for a slight refit & when they do I'm going to ask them to check the tuning just to be sure...

I really dont think they have same drivers as JHAudio. These big custom companies all have thier drivers made to their specifics. So UM can change driver if something happend to it, but you will get something completly different than Jh audio use..

Interesting that you hear sibilance with the JH16s.  It may be a result of a bad fit (too deep or pointing at a bad angle?), or just yet another indication that we all have different sensitivity to treble.  I don't think I've ever heard sibilance with anything other than trashy headphones, or maybe 1 good headphone with a bad source or amp (DT880s gave me bad sibilance during an in-store audition).  For me, the JH16's ability to present an extended, crisp treble without sounding sharp or shrill is one of its most amazing traits.

I hear no sibilance at all on my set. In comparison, my 650's sounded shockingly bright on a lot of material, actually.  I have to reset my brain when I go back and forth.

Peek in your tweeter hole and see if your filters are set properly. Sounds like the dual tweeter unit is too close or the tuning filters fell out of place or something.

bit off topic, but is the JH16 really worth the money? never owened customs but I have weird ear canals.. therefore i have never really gotten a perfect seal on universals.
is it correct if i say that the UE18 have a more reference/neutral/flat sound and that the JH16 have more bass and are more "fun" to listen to?

You can ask them to send the impressions back with the customs.  Not sure if JHA will do this, but Fisher did this for me.  They trim the impressions a bit, but they should still be good for another use.

According to the post office they got my impressions yesterday and according to their FAQ it typically takes 5-7 business days to make the 16pros... What was your average turnaround for those who have bought from JH Audio?

Woot best news all day just came a few mins ago... My JH16Pros are done and on the way to me. Get em tomorrow and just in time for the weekend. That was pretty fast turnaround considering they got my impressions Thursday a week ago.... :)
