For those interested in the clear knob, it tends to look more blue in pictures than it looks in person, which is a bit more of a cool white.

Maybee this PIC is better

Just letting everyone know we've pushed another update to Core this afternoon in preparation for the next firmware release (soon!).

In the meantime, we can use everyone's help to expand the EQ preset library. You can now click the three dot menu on any existing preset to tag your headphones and share with others:

This feature is incredibly cool, there are only a few presets at the moment, but I am sure we will soon have a full library with multiple choices for the most popular headphones!

This is the right way, keep it up!

Agreed, this was a feature I was really hoping was going to come to the device. Thrilled to see all the progress and I hope we can generate a great community of EQ's!

It would be a big project for someone, but adding all of oratory1990's would be a great start:

Definitely.

I look forward to sharing my (mature) presets later this week when I'm back at my desk.

One current obstacle is the limitation on the amount and type of filters (only one high shelf and one low shelf filter are currently supported).

I've heard rumbles (but nothing official) that this will be changing in the future, but at least for the time being it's an issue.

Oratory is quite fond of using multiple shelf filters along with peak filters to manipulate the contours of a headphone's FR.

I think I've seen him use at least four (4!) shelf filters in a single profile.

Firmware v1.3.1 is live, with freedom of LS / PK / HS filter type selection for all 12 bands!

We’ve actually had this build ready since early April, but I held off because I hoped to slip device‑profile storage into the same update. Software development sometimes takes unexpected turns, and the finish line keeps shifting. Will be done ASAP.

Anyway, v1.3.1 received 4+ weeks of testing. Enjoy!

Glad you brought this up, as I was just taking his 10 bands of numbers and putting them in the JDS tool. Am I doing this wrong?

Yes, update to the latest firmware and you will see a new row for configuring filter Type:

This is an awesome update and really increases flexibility!

Core was already powerful but this just ups it.

I know there was concern about the varying computational cost of different filters, so kudos to the team.

I also appreciate the (unmentioned, I believe, at least on Head-fi) change to the automatic pre-amp behavior. It's totally eliminated the clipping issues I got when using Auto when filters interact (commonly, in my usage, a peak filter to address sub-bass rolloff in the same range as a low shelf filter for the bass shelf proper).

Been paying with this for the last few hours with my E3, JOAL and LCD-2 closed (published the results to the repository). Really crazy stuff here. Still able to get distortion if I apply two shelf filters, but I think thats just a foot gun, and I fell for it.

Im kind of shocked as Ive played around with eq before and found it tedious and thought "Ill never actually use this because I switch headphones and go to speakers too much". This solved for those problems.

You probably just need to set a higher and manual pre-amp.

The auto behavior is great most of the time but I actually did get it to clip today with the 800S with a shelf filter and two peak filters in the bass region.

Added a couple dB more pre-amp and the clipping disappeared.
