between hd600/650...hd600 is my center reference. (open)
closed cans...maybe the akg k271mk2, sounds neutral to me.

my dacportLX is pretty neutral, its a dac, but it powers the hd600 easily.

i wont go for the novo, it sounded euphonic, slightly warm, v airy,  very pleasant.

i would go for a BCL if i want a neutral amp...the price....errrrr.

just remarks off my head.

An off the wall suggestion would also be to consider something like the Focusrite VRMbox or some other type of speaker/room simulator (though I'm not sure if it has enough power). If you want to get a sense of what your mixes sound like in different environments, this is a fantastic tool.

Part of me says it looks cool and is at least worth trying out.........the other part feels like it's a cheap/gimmick.

It's not a gimmick. I have one myself and it is fantastic. I've played around with other simulators like Isone Pro, but I prefer the VRMbox.
