Is there one headphone you think is extremely overrated?

Is the E3 really hyped that much? I thought it was the E4c these days!

Like, even though Thaddy is 100% wrong about the 325i's not being amazing, I'm not going to hate him for very long for saying it. What's the matter, thad, cotton in your ears? Or is it that you prefer cotton in your ears?

Well said, and demonstrating a cingular sagacity. I would append only one caveat, however. One might withhold MOSTof one's strong feelings (indeed ALL in certain situations) when he/she has a polar opposite view to the primary position of a patently celebratory thread. Unfortunately we see this all the time.

For example, I start a thread saying,"I LOVE my E4s!!!!!!!!". Someone "contributes" by saying,"...they suck! ...the XYX's are much better". Such a thread is intended to be a celebration - a "yeah, that's right" party for whatever is being placed high on the pedestal. One can post his/her honest opinion in such a thread, it doesn't break forum rules as such. My assertion is, it's just not very polite. I would submit that there are certain situations where it's simply better to say nothing at all.

I'm NOT starting any flame wars etc...but just pure 100% curiosity. I personally just bought a MS1 as well, but for my particular taste, I like the SR60's sound more.... However, I'm getting warmed up to my MS1 and am starting to like it a lot.

You can pick the 580's up for $17 more (or at least you could) and in my opinion they sound better and are a hell of a lot more comfortable. Also I found the AKG K240 sound to be more for me compared to the MS1's. To be 100% I did enjoy the sound of the MS1's, but the comfort completely killed it for me. I owned a pair of SR60's and RS1's and neither of those 2 were that bad.

I think it's about time Grado did something about comfort. Just look at the grado mods thread. Practically everyone has bought Beyer parts just so thier noggin doesen't ache. If I'm going to spend some decent money on a can I don't want to spend an additional 5 days and $50 just so I can wear them without thinking about them all the time. Mostly for issues of comfort and fatigue I sold my MS-1s.
When they address that I won't consider them overrated anymore.

Not really, but this is a matter of seeing people still recommending and loving it but yet I cringe at the thought of listening to it.

overhype is a word for something that can't live up to the hype - and the HP2 can

plus, as you mentioned, they are built like a tank, so they'll probably be around to achieve "vintage" status someday.

But the MS1 housing is identical to the SR60, how could one be comfortable and the other not? All you have to do is bend the headband and presto no more pressure.

At the time in the past, also the AKG K340, but I think that was my fault...I never heard it driven properly.

Yikes this thread could escalate into a grado/Alessandro -VS- Senn battle in a heartbeat

God Bose... by far... ever strike up a conversation with a casual person on the street/office. they almost always rave about bose or at the very least already have some pre-formed, "word of mouth" oppinion that they are a good product.

MDRV700 comes in at a close second. Kids watch MTV and see all those rappers groovin with those fart cannons blasting away. I saw a metallica documentary once and Hetfield was wearing those putrid things....

Superb marketing but poor design / engineering ... IMHO
