Is the HD800 a huge improvement over the K701/K702?

Have you tried the K501 before? What made you prefer them over K701?

I'm very interested in trying the K701 since I liked the K501 very much.

Hi MoonBoy, I own both K501 and K701. The K501 is way warmer and in my opinion, its strength is midrange beauty and openness. The K701 has way more resolution, much bigger headstage, more extension. If you are planning on coming over this weekend, you can try the K701 I have.

Your impression of the K501 mirrors mine. I'll definitely come over this week. 3 finals down, and only 1 more to go.

Hello, imho the hd800 is a HUGE improvement over the k701 (which was my all-time favourite headphone) it just has an overall better tonal balance although it does not have that treble shimmer. But, after i heard the hd800 whith its perfect imaging (i didnt feel as if I had a headphone on at all) and perfect neutralikty I realize the k701 is flawed and has an artificial soundstage.
Greetings, Anouk,

Greetings, Anouk,

Not flawed. A distant 2nd best. But still a silver medalist.
