Anyone else think that Senn needs to come out with a new HP? I think it's time for an HD700!!!

I guess it has been awhile since a HD700 thread came out. Used to be about once a week.
So why not?

This reminds me of the Quad electrostatic loudspeaker.
The design has stayed basically the same for 10 plus years.
Why muck up a good thing?

Yea, Sennheiser is bound to release another one fairly shortly. Just a matter of time.

I like it with HD650 currently on top! My HD600 are happy being in silver place rather than Bronze!

Sure they will.
They'll put a snazzier grill on the back of the HD650 and bump the price up by about $75.

Has anyone heard whether or not the HD700 is going to use the same driver as the HD650?
What about the frequency response curve...same as 650 or different?
Finally, whats the latest word on what the pricing will be?

I've been informed by an anonymous source with Sennheiser that they'll soon cease production of all headphones so they can concentrate on and devote additional resources towards their microphone business.

The latest rumor is that they're skipping the 7 and calling it an HD800.
Aside from that, all we know is that it's pretty.
I'm guessing the price will be $500 or so, but I'm a sarcastic skeptic and not a sennheiser fan.
Since the HD600 and HD650 are just HD580 warmed over, i would guess that it's illogical to get your hopes up.
Nobody faults Beyerdynamic (much) for just refreshing the same designs over and over for 20+ years (DT990 dates to 1985, the 770 and (current) 880 are derived from it), so mainly i fault sennheiser for trying to pretend that they did more than they really did. And for charging so damn much for it.

I actualy think it is a good thing to "fine tune" a good product rather than bring out a new design. Anyway most companies do this, Grado, Shure, etc...
