What about the frequency response curve...same as 650 or different?
Finally, whats the latest word on what the pricing will be?

As far as I care, it's all Vaporware at this stage.

My guess is that the new flagship, whenever it comes out, will cost a lot more than $500. We audiophiles have a habit of judging how good things sound by how much they cost, thus the MSRP pricing structure.

I do think they'll number it higher than 700, though. Since there's already a K701 from AKG not to mention the K1000. BD also has the 880 and 990, all of which are bigger than 700... I'm thinking if Senn wants to break new ground, they'll have to go with at LEAST a HD1001 if not more.

The DT880 dates back to 1980. 990 came out in 1985. I forget when the 770 was introduced.

Different Drivers, MSRP should be around 650, HD650 will drop to 500ish.

Also, it was confirmed by a Senn rep in the last big thread that they will be wood.

I'm also hoping for a better color scheme as well. The HD6XX series looks SO 90's it makes me angry.

On the other hand, the K701 looks like it's trying too hard to be hip but then the HD595 looks like it's trying to appeal to audiophile's girlfriends/wifes...

Sure they will.
Rumors say that the HE100 (Orpheus II) will be released this fall!

They'll put a snazzier grill on the back of the HD650 and bump the price up by about $75.

LOL

Two days ago, my dealer told me that the distributor told him that Sennheiser is working on a new electrostat. It's to be released end 2008 and will cost €2500. That's what he said. Sounds interesting doesn't it?

They will come out with a new headphone only when the market dictates:

a) the need for a better sounding headphone in a price class

b) the need to re-design an existing product

Tyll confirmed this too. Not that crazy price though.

They are working on the design and it will come out when they are finished.

Well count me in, regardless of what it ends up being, either tweak or major overall/new design. I will be there like white on rice.
I got into this hobby after all their top tier stuff became unavailable new, such as HE90 / Orpheus/etc. Now I'll be ready. I've gone so far as to start a savings pile for just this purpose.
