Tyll confirmed this too. Not that crazy price though.

I say €2500 is not such a crazy price!
Remember the HE90? Which sold for $7500 back in the mid-90's...

If this new electrostatic headphone is comparable to the HE90 (it might be an upgrade for what we know) its a fair price. If its comparable to the HE60, its another discussion though...

If they are ever going to release another HE phone I hope they increase the bias a bit, increase the D/S spacing considerably above the required minimum and stop tensioning the diaphragm so much i.e. stop sacrificing the bass for a better HF response and a cool 100Khz@+/-10db rating and above all make them more friendly to other amps then their own.

Agreed - I thought the $3-4K headphones didn't sell enough to make any money though? I'd hate to be caught with a ridiculously priced HE-90, if they released something on par or better.

Everyone behind the scenes secretly knows that Sennheiser is making their big piezoelectric effort for the new flagship after deciding to abandon their magnetic air motion transformer designs.

That's just a smokescreen to cover up their real investment in planar magnetics.

I think they will be going the horn route. The first headphone to use horns.

Senns will no longer be known as polite and boring.

The reason it's taking so long is because it's been difficult for them to convince AKG to help bail them out of their design slump. There have been meetings in Vienna regularly, but as my sources tell me they haven't really gotten anywhere so far. Sennheiser really needs to step up their offer to AKG if they want to become a player in the headphone business again.

I fully agree . If it did see the light of day I would expect a new electrostatic Sennheiser would sell (r.r.p anyway) for more than 2500 Euros. The demand would be considerable.

There are measurable dips in the treble response; whether it sounds good or bad or even actually sounds like a "veil" is entirely personal taste, but to say it simply "doesn't exist" is inaccurate.

Some people have no sense of humour.

"Another veil in development ?" is one of the better puns I've come across.
