I'm quite a noob to all this source stuff, I know that computers have sound cards and the better the sound card = the better sound quality. So does my 2009 model core 2 duo 27" iMac have a decent sound card and enough power for my M50's/Beats Pro's (and soon to possibly be HD650's). Would there be any point in me getting a Fiio e5 amp? Thanks!

My 27 inch iMac sounds very good even compared to my external dac and amp, so I'd say it sounds very good.  The E5 is just a glorified bass boost, I wouldn't spend money on it.

But would some fairly high end balanced headphones (like the HD650's) + bass boost = profit for someone that loves to hear everything but also have great bass. Or would the bass boost feature just send it a bit muddy or overpowering?

It'd be muddy regardless because the E5 alone won't power the 650.
