Is it true that modded T50RP's (specifically LFF's Paradox mod) is comparable to high end headphones such as the LCD2?

I've listened to mine for a few hours now (my life is busy). They are very flat compared to my other phones, these kind of sound boring. There isn't much coloration. I have ATs which are known for their coloration and the HD800 is quite glaring, even if you get a good one.

I think Muppetface once said the Paradox is like a good phone to cleanse your ears to. Comparing headphones often has me taking my tonal preferences as the normal.

Glossy green or glossy purple Paradox?

Sorry for the double post.

One question I haven't seen pop up, with LFF's Paradox is its used as a balanced headphone.  What's changed when using it in balanced mode?

A good place to start and get a general idea about the supposed benefits of running headphones balanced: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/balancedheadphones/one.html

I've heard the Paradox balanced, but have not tested under reliable conditions to where I am able to claim there are significant audible differences.

It's something to consider, but nothing to lose sleep over.

Fair enough, just curious as to the effects.  As to the balanced vs se debate, not sure I want to go there this morning

@MorbidToaster - good point, I kinda forgot about that as well!

I took these to the Brissy meet. The general view was that they were vastly superior to the stock cans. People did have an issue with the price difference between the stock and Paradox. Compared to say the MS Pros which are of a similar price (when factoring in shipping), I'd take the Paradox.

Just passing on the thoughts of others.

Custom and quality paint job, AWESOME black rod sliders and a headphone bag which I like to have for each of my headphones. I love the Star Wars Trooper color scheme! and the fact you can personalize even further (color, cable, etc.) on http://www.referencesounds.com

Just so you guys know...both my partner and I take our sweet time modifying them but it's only because we care about our work so much. I also take the time to answer A LOT of email and pm's. I spend at least 2 hours a day fielding questions.

If I wanted to turn a huge profit, I'd just mass produce and sell/push it on every new member here. I also wouldn't offer re-cables or paint jobs or removable cables or be willing to work with people to accomplish other options.

As an example:

I had one customers headphone completely finished but there was a slight channel imbalance. While I HIGHLY doubt he would have noticed it, I just binned the finished headphone and ordered a new one and started all over again. Likewise, if we are not happy with the paint finish, we will sand it and start all over again. We have recently just finished building a new paint booth for which we hired a contractor and an hvac specialist. Just the fan and dust filtration system ran my partner over $2000! We have been working on getting this completed to not just speed up time but also to provide a better finish.

We both pour our heart and souls into what we build and we hope you notice it in the resulting sound quality and your happiness level.

Will there be option or a possibility in the future of you performing the required mods for the Paradox but for other headphones such as the LCD2's? If so, I wouldn't mind donating my pair sometime sooner for the experiment. (Just landed myself 3 LCD2's for modding  ).

No way lol, I agreed to trade my cables for 2 LCD2's, I own one myself so 3 in total soon. Wish I had them now, and a milling machine to woodwork my own cups and try different dampening methods to get them as flat line as possible..for fun.

If LFF is able to use his dark magic on the T50RP and change it's mediocre driver to a good neutral can, imagine what the LCD2's will sound like after a process at LFF's lab, of course the open design and the density of the wood and design of the housing applies to the sound change as well.
