Since the Nanos screen is so much smaller, the resolution will probably appear at least as high as the full sized (if not in reality).

. Heh, oh well. Thanks for the info. I wish it had as good a resolution as the normal iPods: they have 220x176. I'm just picky about that because i'd be heavy into puting my digital photos on one of those if i had one. (I currently own a 3G).

isnt the screen a bit smaller than the regualr ipods though? should look almost identical.

Each negates the other to some extent.

Hmmm, maybe this is the perfect rational for getting the new 32 Ohm DT880.

Or at least some ER-4Ps?

Yeah what's up with the headphone jack on the bottom??

I hope it has a line-out feature with my pocketdock.

14 hours is 14 hours which is like 10 hours, no matter the size of the device.

I'm very excited about the nano. This is exactly what I have been waiting for. The Shuffle, lacking the screen, was a no no for me. The capacity, 4 gigs is VERY nice for on the go, running, the gym etc. I own a 60g iPhoto and it is quite enough for every day use, but I can't move with it for fear of destroying the HD. I have been researching flash devices for when I renew my gym membership in a couple of weeks but with this annoucement I know I'm going to shell out the cash for the 4 gig nano. Since the cost between the 2 and 4 is only $50, I may as well splurge!

The sleekness is exactly what I am looking for. The armband option is perfect as well. I don't need to worry about my music formats (though I would really love it if they went with FLAC as I have quite a few albums in this format) nor about the software to transfer. I own a doc...so everything is really taken care of. Very very nice. Though some may argue that what it offers is not up to snuff of other flash players, and this may be true in many cases, I just don't care. I dig my iPod and this will be a nice addition to the family. Ironically, though I'm not an Apple zealot, nor even a fanboy, I am tending towards their hardware. Reliable, sexy and it just WORKS in a way that is intuitive. I own an older Powerbook and have been eying the Mini like nobody's business. The Mini is out of my budget and needs for now, but this Nano will be funded by my finally gutting my MD collection. Bye bye MD, your time has finally come.

Not really, Rodent. Things have changed with Apple. For example, the 60 is rated at 15 hours and does at least a couple of hours better than that under test conditions. I'd be surprised--and more than a little pissed as a stockholder--if the nano's battery doesn't exceed its rating, given the huge loss Apple took with the last battery fiasco.

Well yeah, I have a mini so I know that it exceeded the specifications, at first. My real point was that size doesn't do jack for battery life though

Screen res on the Nanao is 176 x 132 pixel resolution, .168-mm dot pitch

All of the specs on the Nano can be found here at the bottom of the page...

Another interesting thing is there is no Firewire support. USB or USB2.0 only.

Exactly what I was just thinking. Something to do with using flash memory?
