sigh, wouldn't it be great if this chip would let the dock go to a usb digital out, so we could pop it into an external DAC?

New Nano looks cool. It continues the same line as its predecessors but gets smaller. I like it. Maybe this will be my first Mp3-player. Though it's sad that price is so high here in Europe.

209EUR for the 2GB and 269EUR for 4GB version.

So it says in the box there's a USB 2.0 cable and a "Dock adapter" (listed as separate items).

Yeah. Very little mention of firewire on the specs page. Maybe they're just moving away from mentioning it to avoid confusion?

Is it possible it could charge through firewire but not transfer music via firewire, since the iPod is getting power through the dock connector?

According to iLounges report, bass response and EQ is the same as previous iPods.

We tested the iPod nano briefly with both stock and high-end Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro earphones, and found the audio quality of the newest iPod to be similar to existing iPods. Bass performance does not appear to have been markedly improved in the nano, and other audio and feature functionality often requested by iLounge readers (enhanced equalizers, FM tuner, etcetera) has not been included.

ipodlounge.com is reporting that it has a "variable line-out"....sounds promising!

also, i dig the headphone jack on the bottom, i wish my mini had this, as most flip cases are rendered useless with the headphone plug blocking it from being opened.
