Jesus Christ my 256GB Jet Black 7+ got pushed back to late November! I ordered this damn thing within 20 minutes of pre-order opening....sucks..How is everyone else faring?
As far as I've heard there is a delay with the 7+. I have no idea about the reason though. I am in Europe and I chose to go with the 7 eventually. At the bottom line it's smaller and easier to handle in every day use. Smaller and lighter phone without many other important compromises is better I think. My 6S+ was always kind of difficult to carry around and handle in all cases...
I guess 7+ has bigger demand than expected and production line is struggling...
Yeah I think the demand has exceeded their expectations for sure. I've had a 128GB 6+ for 2 years now so I've gotten acclimated to the size. Plus there's nothing like a giant phone to compensate for an average penis. Oh yeah chicks dig giant phones.
I pre-ordered my 256GB JB 7+ on 9/9 at 11:30AM through Verizon and the expected delivery was 10/26. To my surprise mine was shipped yesterday and should have it in hand tomorrow.
So jelly man. Really pisses me off ugh. I mean I was pissed when I first ordered it and saw that I wouldn't get it till Sep 28th-Oct 7th. Then a couple days ago it was pushed back another two months just about. Such BS.
Surely you can still just walk into an Apple Store or somewhere and buy one without a contract? I mean who is your cell service with? Just buy from them? I mean how do you not have a carrier account?

Who is your service with? Where'd you order from? I'm with ATT and I stayed up till 2AM central time in order to get one and still got ****ed lol.
I ordered direct from Apple Online and I'm with Verizon. No Upgrade. Paid In Full. Upgrades were delayed. As are New contracts and such. Just Pay In Full next time.
I hear of folk buying multiple 4...5 or more adaptors - so that they can be sure that they will have one when they need one.
At $9 each (or £9 UK)... just think how much better a DAC/Amp could have been included within the phone with the money that people are spending on multiple kludgy add-on connectors.
It makes no sense to purchase multiple cheap DACs and yet that is what Iphone 7 owners are often doing.

I'm one of those people who has five, and I have five because I want one in my car, at my desk at work, by the bedroom table, etc. I also have an Oppo HA-2, Chord Mojo, etc. and yes while I realize these are better, I purchased the adapter more for day to day phone calls. It really sucks to have headphones and the iPhone 7 in your car and not be able to take a call without using speakerphone. So anyway, my point is that the adapter is necessary to have multiples of for day to day phone calls and casual music, not just the end-all-be-all of sound quality.
That reminds me, I think I need to order five more for my wife. LOL
Finally, my iP7 Plus arrived yesterday morning and here are some impressions with the dongle and without it:
Equipment used:
iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black 256GB variant
Included dongle
Included Lightning to USB cable
Oppo HA-2 Headphone DAC/Amp
B&W P7 Headhones
Westone UM Pro 50 IEMs
Tidal HiFi - Erik Frielander (OSCALYSO), AZYMUTH (Before e Forget), Sam Smith (In The Lonely Hour), Melanie De Blasio (No Deal - Remixed)
The mood for music today was Jazz with a straight up acoustic flavor and Brazilian flavor, electronic and some R&B. With the dongle the phone was paired with the P7 headphones / UM Pro 50 and to be honest I found the sound to be good but something was missing as the music seemed constricted in a way using the dongle. Some may feel otherwise. However, for non-serious portable listening I wouldn't have a problem using the dongle.
Things changed for the better when the HA-2 was inserted into the chain which allowed the music to open up with more clarity, breadth and air. You could distinguish where instruments and voices were placed within the mix. This is probably due to a separate and better solution for critical listening when outboard DACs and amps are used instead of just a phone.
Because of the storage capacity of the 7 and it's partnering with the Apple eco-system, the iPhone is the perfect companion for music and consumption. Some good sounding bits are coming out of that lightning port!
Thought I'd make a note of my progress with the iPhone 7 and external DACs like the Sony PHA-1A and Creative Sound Blaster E5 having pops, static and distortion. I contacted support and this is what I eventually got back after going over in detail with an (admittedly very knowledgeable) support rep:
It appears as though we are right, and the current lightning port is now transferring audio with some changes that have been made to the way audio is delivered. Unfortunately, due to the way we like to keep the way our technology works secret, I wasn’t able to get the specific changes that were made.
Because of this change, it can cause some audio devices to no longer be compatible with the new lightning port on the iPhone 7. Some devices will require a future update to be able to work with them which may come out over time from the developers of these companies, like Sony.
The engineers have recommended that you keep your Audio devices as well as your iPhone updated to the newest version and look out for new updates that could resolve this communication issue with some Audio devices.
