To be honest for someone lazy as me I am happy to pay a premium for VC's PCB and soldering work alone, but for the 627BM's case the premium they asked for is really way over the top.
 
But anyway I think I can settle for the OPA627AU for quite some time.

Yes asking for 1.5 times the price of the valoq isn't something I look forward too.

Sort of poor translation on their part, but according to their webpage:

Thanks to this threadI got tempted and got my Valoq today, even with all the hype I am still pleasantly surprised by the SQ. iMO SQ a step above the Onkyo.

This is one of the major down side of the Valoq, as its balanced out isn't exactly clean.  I know that once the music is playing this is no big deal, but at this price point VC should have done a better job on the noise floor.

Also the unit takes forever to charge just 3000mah, probably 2-3x longer than DPX1 or Cowon...

Not really ; as my experience , use Samsung Note3 charger to charge , it took only 150 minutes to charge from 0% to green light blinking . 5V 2A charger should reduce your charging time .

I also like to use smaller current chargers too. I normally use self adjusting powerbanks.
