Hmm, I have TH900mk2...and in about three weeks, I am planning to get TA-66.

Th900mk2 is also 25ohm with 100db sensitivity.
I don't know how much of a difference that is exactly, but if you do, I could give you an answer when I get TA-66.

Cheers!
I hope it works for you/us!
Good luck 👍 and I'd love to hear what you think about the combo'.

I tried it with beyerdynamic 900 pro x which are 48 ohm 100db/1mw can be driven very well by the ta 66. however I don't think they are a good pairing since the sound isn't as pleasing as with my topping l50, with hd 660s hd 600 and dt 1990 it's the other way around

I’ve ordered a TA-66 today, as well as a couple of tubes to roll. Voskhod 6N2P-EB for the pre stage and winged C 6H13C Sovtek by SED for the buffer/power stage, both from The Tube Store.

Could you please post an update when you get them and have a chance to try them?

I'm very interested to see how they change/improve the sound

Will do. Unfortunately, the amp itself is backordered until at least 30th of April, so I won’t have anything to report back until then. Had I paid attention and noticed that, I might not have put in my order with Apos so soon.

How is the dt-880 (600ohm) with ta-66.
I've only try them with 900 pro x and dt 1990. The 900pro x require a nice clean signal to sound their best but can still handle the extra power quite well.

The 1990 pro though have been completely overhauled using the ta66. The highs have been tamed considerably (but the beer peak is still present in some recordings) bass has been greatly enhanced both in quality and quantity (better texture and detail) dynamics are pretty awesome with tubes, and the sound is way lusher even if it looses some neutrality and cleanliness. I would expect similar results with the dt 880

Tubes have arrived from Canada; amp is nowhere in sight due to backorder—the struggle is too real. 😖

Is this amp any good for iems ?
Going to guess it is probably not since it really works only well with high-impedance cans. Does anyone make high-impedance IEMS?

I am on the fence about TA-66 because of driver tube type. I have many quality 6SN7 tubes lying around and eBay happens to have 6SN7 to 6N2 adapters. Would the adapter work on TA-66 with 6SN7 tubes? Any tube doctor here who can comment on this ?

Ah…just burning in right now, but already truly glorious. Source is lossless Apple Music and DSD files through a Cayin RU7 1-bit DAC. Beats the pants off any other headphone amp I’ve ever paired these cans with (Fiio K11, Gustard H16, SMSL SP400, Fiio K7) for natural sound. The TA-66 itself is an absolute beast unit, seemingly built out of solid lead. The volume dial is tremendously notchy, but that lends the ladder attenuator an ultra-premium feel.

More to come as I do more critical listening and as burn-in progresses. I went straight to my aftermarket tubes instead of bothering with the stock ones. If I get time, I might try the stock ones, but it sounds so good right now that I am hesitant to change!

Cool, I've heard that the stock tubes that come standard are pretty decent compared to the likes of the darkvoice, but would understand if you just wanna stick with what works

How'd you choose the tubes you bought, by the way?

I had great experiences with Voskhod Rockets in the past, so I went with that for the pre-amp stage and then for the buffer stage there wasn’t a ton of info, but this one is what Atma-Sphere puts into their $165,000 MA-3, so I figure it’s probably pretty good?

So far, I’d say yes. 🤘🏼
