Introducing the Questyle M15 & the brand new Questyle Shop!

@Helioscentric

I talked with the team, and here's what they said:

Go ahead and purchase the M15 on the Questyle Shop, and just make sure to leave a message listing your preferred color during checkout, and we will do our best to send that color case to you. You can also email us at info@questyle.com after you make your purchase on Questyle Shop to request a specific color.

@subguy812

When you connect the M15 to your PC, is it not functioning properly?
I hit you up in PM

I think it's what you're after. I find the sound bold and robust and vocals still full bodied. The clarity helps with the highs. It's very musical, fun and clear. I'd say it's pretty accurate to what @Fawzay said.

I was really surprised when I listened to old EDM flacs. The bass and mid bass is lovely, vocals come through clearly, but the M15 surfaces more timbre and textures I've never heard before. Listening to slower acoustic vocal tracks, the voices are definitely not recessed. It complements my DT 990 Pro superbly. But on hi-gain, I'm almost maxing the volume control on my Mac—I thought it'd drive the headphones more easily.

Richie Hawtin's Contain (In Key) sounds incredible.

(But I'm no audiophile and don't keep up with dac tech, I upgraded from an OG DACport Slim.)
Awesome, that's good to hear!

Sorry I had a bit of concern initially it's just that recent trend these days is "neutral sounding" also typically ESS dacs are a bit lean and clean sounding (with the exception of Dragonfly Red).

So I want to make sure it's the direction I'm looking (bold, rich and bassy sounding yet with good treble detail, generally speaking more colored sound) before I jump into it. Based from what you've told me I think it's worth a shot.

As for your headphone, is it the 80 ohm version or 250 ohm version? Because 250 ohm would be harder to drive.

But otherwise thank you for the explanation! :)

Yeah it's 250 :L3000: In hindsight when I thought more about what I said, I think the volume steps on the M15 is very smooth, I don't have the right language to articulate it. I can keep the volume bar around the 75-80% mark but I can keep going up and it never feels overwhelmingly loud or fatiguing like when I max the volume on my previous dac.

Does M15 support MQA unfold 4x?

May 5, 2022 at 5:48 AM Post #111 of 989
@ducnsh

The M15 is a MQA renderer, which completes the final unfold of an MQA stream. How much it unfolds (4x, or more or less) depends on the MQA source stream's own compression. But do not fear, the M15 supports full MQA expansion through the final unfold. You'll have no problem playing MQA files off the M15.

@tamtrum

The engineers haven't been able to replicate the issue you mentioned in-house... so perhaps its worth looking into using some different cables, and perhaps some other devices/equipment for playing the music, just to experiment where the issue is coming from (the M15, the wiring, the playback device, or otherwise). Let me know what you learn through these trials, and I'll do my best to get to the bottom of this with you, and if it's determined to be the M15's issue for whatever reason, we will certainly replace it for you.

@Helioscentric

Noted, I'll let the team know you want a black leather protective case 😄

So M15 decodes the mqa file by hardware and it can be up to 16x?

May 5, 2022 at 6:47 AM Post #113 of 989
@ducnsh

I'm not quite sure if I entirely understand your question...

The M15 is a MQA "renderer", and it completes the final unfold of the MQA stream using its internal hardware, when connected to an MQA core signal. The M15 is NOT a "full decoder" however... aka, it needs to be attached to a device (such as a phone or computer) with software that can perform the initial " MQA core decoding," and then from there it can complete the final unfold.

Yes, the final unfold multiplier can be 16x, depending on the original MQA stream's compression multiplier.

Many thanks for your answer, one more question, does M15 include lightning to type C cable or it is sold separtely?

@ducnsh

You're very welcome!

Regarding the cables, the M15 comes with two cables:
  1. USB-A to USB-C
  2. USB-C to USB-C
See the images below:

Lightning to USB-C cables are sold separately. We are manufacturing a batch at the moment and will soon have them available for purchase on the Questyle Shop online.

@Helioscentric

Thank you for the kind feedback 😄 You are very, very welcome. I'm glad that we as a company are finally doing right by our customers! ❤️

I just placed an order via my local dealer, I am interested in your CMA SiP module, do we have any documents to technically explain them? By the way, my local dealer does not provide a leather case, so can I request one when I receive the M15? Many thanks!

@ducnsh

As for how to get the leather protective case, you can check the first page of this thread. I'll also copy it here for your convenience:

We equally value each and every of our customers across the globe. For those of you who purchase the M15 through your local dealer instead of on Questyle Shop, we will extend the "free leather protective cover" offer to M15 purchases made on or before May 31, 2022. To enjoy this offer, please send your purchase details (such as dealer purchased from, purchase order number, purchase date, etc), the M15 serial number, and your detailed contact information and shipping address to our email (info@questyle.com) and we will deliver the leather protective cover to you for free.

Thank you for your love and support of Questyle, and see you at the Questyle Shop!

**Note: the color of the complementary leather protective case sent to you will be randomly selected – but let's be honest, all three colors are beautiful!

Then, about technical documentation on the CMA SiP module, I know that we've had some documentation in the past but it's outdated by now as we're continually improving it. Let me check with the engineers and see what I can find. I'll get back to you.
