Introducing Shanling M30 - Modular Desktop Hi-Fi Streaming Player

One thing I do really enjoy about the M30 is that it is not just a great sounding piece of audio gear, it also has such flexibility in its connectivity options. Currently listening to my Stax SR007Mk2: streaming QQ Music via the M30 (SRC>384KHz, tube output), balanced out to the Mjolnir Carbon. I get to enjoy the luscious tube sound of the M30 on my electrostatic set up while not losing the driving power of the Carbon. The M30 just keeps on giving. :)

Just chilling on a lazy Sunday night to Tidal on the M30. Using my iPad mini to control the M30 via wireless projection. Nice to be able to listen on the Shichiku Kangen directly out of the M30. :)

Reading about the surprise Apple Music lossless and high res lossless announcement this morning was great: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2021/05/apple-music-announces-spatial-audio-and-lossless-audio/

I was ready to play Apple Music out of my iDevices into the Phatlab Chimera when it occurred to me that the M30 has USB DAC input. Reading some more on what is required for lossless and high res lossless on Apple Music, I bit the bullet and ordered myself a couple of cables with lightning as well as USB C connectors into the M30. Look forward to being able to play Apple Music as well as KK Box which streams music up to 24 bits (which is not supported by the M30 at this stage) on iDevices as digital transport into the M30. :)

Have you tried airplay as well? Only CD quality, but I don’t see anything specific about what “Hi-res lossless” is being defined as in the announcement.

I’m curious if this has airplay 1 or 2

Hi. Do you have any information about the bugfix firmware? My M30 is just idle waiting for the channel reversal fix. Thanks.
In works, should be coming soon.

I am running out of my patience with the software issues, especially the channel reversal issue. It is now three weeks for such a crucial and quick fix, and I have no idea what "soon" means. And I wonder if this was a known issue that was known to exist also with other players, why wasn't the software properly tested before the release, especially against a known problem, and why is it taking that long time to fix it?

What I am doing however is that I ordered a lightning (as well as USB C) connector to USB B so I can connect the iPhone/iPad to the M30 and stream Apple Music Lossless when it comes out. Or at least I will try. :)
iOS doesn't simply work with USB DACs, that's limitation of Apple. So such connection will not work.
Your best bet with Apple Music would be to use Airplay.

I'm so sorry for this. It seems nobody noticed that this issue were affecting just the DSD512, while the lower ones were running fine.
I should be getting beta version of firmware update in few days, I will send it to you ASAP.

Let’s see. Cos I do use my iphone and iDevices with portable USB DACs with no issues. :)

To add correction to @Shanling statement. iOS does work with DACs, I use DMP Z1 with iPad as source no problem.
Thanks @bigbeans. Do you really? I used to think that the DMPZ1 was only for music on SD cards... ooh... now this makes it really tempting... 😆
