Thanks @bigbeans. Do you really? I used to think that the DMPZ1 was only for music on SD cards... ooh... now this makes it really tempting... 😆
Yes! I use DMP mostly through my iPad via Roon. The only downside is iOS doesn't support the hires files natively, so Roon on iPad will need to go through conversion steps. I have attached some screenshots to illustrate the process (regular music file and DSD). However I do not notice much of a sound difference, thus iPad+DMP becomes my main setup. It's great to have iPad software support and speed with DMP sound.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for that @bigbeans. I am likely to try to use an iPad mini or iPad Pro as the digital transport. :)

Playing KK Box from the iPad Pro and the iPad mini. USB C and lightning respectively into the USB DAC socket of the M30. Sounds good! All ready for Apple Music Lossless.:L3000:

Hi!
My M30 does not recognice the sd card and also no external drive. What do I do wrong
Hi there! (I just saw your message on Facebook :) ). At least from the USB-A ports, I didn't have any issues with the recognition of the external drive. It is an NTFS formatted 4TB SSD. For the internal microSD card, only thing I can think of is the filesystem format. For example, Linux ext4 will not work. exFAT should work.

good to see you here. for my microSD card, I just stuck it in without formatting. So I assume its exFAT. For my portable HDD, I am using the WD Black HDD, and its formatted on the Mac format.

Another question!
Which formats does the M30 play. At some files it says „not supported“

Please what exact files are reporting like this? Can you send me details in PM, maybe even the file itself?

Any news from the beta version you mentioned? Or should I just accept the fact that there wont be any fix anytime soon.
I'm sorry, have a bad news for you. Software team so far isn't ready to get the new firmware out. And they even didn't get to the wrong channel issue of the DSD512 and 384 PCM.

I knew it! This is not just bad news for me, but also bad news for you. There were many people (also here) complaining about the SW quality of Shanling and you (not personally but as a company) proved them right once again, even with a >€/$3.5K costing device. I have been doing software engineering for more than 20 years and can see what is going on, and this also just proves me how bad your process is. You told me in the PM that random channel assignment (yes, it is random, it works OK with one piece and it is wrong with the next, so reversing your cable does not help) was a well known issue but your software team still let it slip even with such an expensive, your TOTL device? And on top of that not be able to release a hotfix firmware for such a basic known and important issue? And not even have a timeline for a delivery? Now, that is ridiculous.

You don't just build such an expensive device and get away with such a basic issue so easily. Whatever the format is, it is a very basic thing to do right, that the audio is directed to the correct channel. This is audio product development 101. Especially when you know that this issue was seen on other Shanling products! I am sorry, but I cannot take it easy for this kind of an attitude (from the software team), for this kind of a product and this kind of an issue. Especially when I have been asking for a follow up on it for three weeks and there is still not a single information about when and even _if_ it is going to be fixed. This is ridiculous.

And before anyone tells me "if you don't like it, just sell it and leave us alone". No, I paid for it and I don't have to sell and lose money on it. Shanling has to deliver this kind of basic functionality working right for anyone that has placed trust in their products. Even if it slipped, they should react faster for a bugfix delivery, at least within an acceptable timeframe. Three weeks is enough time for a proper reaction.
