The quick start guide lists 50-100 hours of burn in like most of their stuff. I do feel like the sound of my old Noire’s settled in after around that time.
Burn in effects are mild and done within 50-100 hours of use. Mostly the response just smooths a bit and bass gets tighter as the diaphragm settles a little faster. Personally I just listen and enjoy the headphone, no special burn in is needed.

Pretty excited to finally receive my JS-17 cable from Norne. Now I have a shorter length for portable use in 4.4mm. Perfect companion to my Gryphon. The 4.4mm really helps with drivability. It's got another 30 steps in the volume pot and no longer stuck on Turbo mode.

I've been thinking about getting the Noire X or the Fostex 900mk2 for work. Has anyone heard the two and can compare? My office can get noisy from time to time so which one isolates better?
I cannot comment about the 900MK2, but I can say that NX's noise isolation is about on par to IEM passive isolation. Tried them on plane flight. They are practical enough for outdoor use imo, provided that you tie up the metal bands as vibration will send down to the cups as you walk about.

900 v1 has much more V-shape than X und X has much better isolation

I would be interested on how the Schiit Audio Valhalla 3 sounds with the Dan Clark Audio NOIRE X, specifically. Is there enough power? Anyone want to chime in?

Anyone using the NX with Ifi Neo 2 ?
I just can't figure out how the Neo 2 and Diablo 2 are so different considering they have almost same specs, the D2 sounds so much fuller with the NX, and it's a portable

Morning all, waiting for my “x” to arrive. I will be using with Ibasso dx340 or Ibasso dc elite. Anyone out there have any experience with these cans with either of the Ibasso units? Thanks

I'm a newbie when it comes to hi-end audio gear, as will shortly be obvious.
I got my Noire X about 2 weeks ago, as well as Astell&Kern Kann Ultra. So far I'm a VERY happy camper. Best headphones I've had on my ears, best sound I've ever had in my ears. That's my very short and very non-technical opinion. Noire X is both comfortable and the output is for me very engaging and fun.
Having said that, I'm sure I'm missing out on my combo of Noire X and Kann Ultra, for the simple reason that I'm lost down the EQ rabbithole.
Is a anybody else using this combo, and have some EQ pointers for this setup?
The EQ on the Kann Ultra has a ton of bands, and even as I write this, I'm still tweaking and making EQ profiles based on Oratory's EQ settings, on what I think sound best, on previous experiences with other DAPs with a lot simpler EQs.
For those that don't know the Kann Ultra:
Bands: 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, 250, 380, 500, 750, 1k, 1.5k, 2k, 3k, 4k, 6k, 8k, 12k, 14k and 18k.
Gain: +/-5.0
Q: 1.0 - 4.0
So I'm a bit lost. My previous DAP, a Cowon J3, had 5 bands...
I've been running the Kann Ultra without EQ at all sometimes, and for some music it doesn't sound bad at all. But then I start fiddling around with EQ and suddenly I find something that sounds better. But some pointers from what I see as a very experienced crowd in here, would be helpful.
So far I haven't had any issues with the Kann Ultra driving the Noire X, as far as I can tell. No clipping, sounds great to be honest, and a perfect setup for me on my travels. But, my ears are far from perfect, and I wanna get as much quality as possible out my headphone/DAP combo, and would really like to hear what others might be using. Or suggestion, for that matter.
All in all though, the Noire X is the best headphones I've had on my ears (previous is Grado SR225, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 32, 80 and 250 Ohm). To my very non-technical, beginner audophile ears.
