One of my favorite things about being a DCA club member is the amazing discounts they provide. I jumped on the Noire X the moment it announced and had it rotating along with other headphones but when I plugged them into the LAiV stack they turned into something even more amazing!

Fantastic synergy that enhanced all of the Noire X strong points. Wider sound stage, deep reaching bass and gorgeous mids. Both Stealth and Expanse sound great on it too, but the Noire X has something special to my ears with this combination.

Is anybody using EQ Settings with Dan Clark Audio Noire X?

Yeah, I am finally using the same EQ than Amir plus a subbass lowshelf.

That would be this:

And a lowshelf, 60 Hz, +1db, Q 0.7

Regarding blocking out ambient noise, I find that noire x as good as my sony ANC headphones. It's pretty close but because of the stellar sound quality of the noire x, I don't find myself using the Sony much anymore. Also, I don't find myself needed to jack up the volume to help with outside noise. Just listen at my normal level and all is good.

How does the NOIRE compare to the NOIRE X in this regard? Any chance you can show the graph for each on the same chart?
Similar. NOIRE X may have more isolation than NOIRE older than a year or so simply because the newer ear pads use a slightly denser foam, but it's on the order of 1-2 db and when the pads are replaced virtually the same.
This is fantastic info, which I believe should be supplied for all closed back headphones.

I assume the attenuation works equally both ways; ie, so that others aren't disturbed by someone using the NX? (My primary use case for mine is for listening within a shared office space, when open backs are not an option.)
Yes.

THX :-) Why did you add lowshelf, 60 Hz, +1db, Q 0.7?

Torben
I just like it better that way.
I listen to rock, progressive and metal, these are styles where there isn't much sub-bass, and headphones usually need a little more support in that area to sound a little warmer, with more depth, and more pleasing to my ears.

Has anyone been able to compare the Noire X vs. a member of the fostex th/tr line? I have the Fostex TR-x00 Ebony headphones, and I'm considering upgrading to the Noire X. But i wanted to check if anyone has made that comparison here? I checked the search, but didn't see this comparison yet.

Thank you in advance!

I had the Ebony. Great headphones!
The Noire X is a huge upgrade in all areas.

I have had the TH-X00 (I didn't like it) and the TH-610 (I liked it very much), and the Noire X is some steps above the TH-610.
I sold the TH-610 some days after receiving the NX, because I don't need two closed back headphones, and I knew I wasn't going to use the Fostex anymore having the NX.
