Has anyone here compared this to the original Hip-Dac? I love my original, but I’m tempted by this new one.

Sorry, can’t answer this one. I suppose your are right about battery degradation when using it as a desktop dac. Seems kinda silly you need to connect 2 cables for continuous use. Ordered my hip dac 3 weeks ago but they are still not available in the Netherlands. I wished I ordered them directly from Ifi. It seems that they are available there.

I left it on with the data cable plugged into my pc and the battery drained itself overnight, I guess you do need to shut it off when not in use.

Can someone compare Hip Dac V3 to Zen Dac V2? Is it same sound quality level?

an issue with HD3 is that the volume knob has too little resistance making it move accidental when carrying it around.

Just curious, did they solve background noise? Because hip dac 2 had this issue and ifi go blu as well.

Xdsd gryphon was my last try, but had to much background noise, balanced was impossible. At least with sensitive IEM’s
With full size headphones they were okay.

Now bought a mojo2, despite the missing options, and annoying microusb charge port, less issues and sounds amazing.

And even my new astell and kern, no hiss issues on balanced. Even not with Fir audio M4 7/8 ohm IEM’s

It is more that it amazes me, tonality wize the xdsd gryphon, or hip dac2 were very good, but the hiss was so annoying listening classic (less loud recordings)

And iematch sucks, at least with my iem’s kills dynamics, it should not be needed i think.

Shure se846, fir audio m4, 64 audio u12t, 64 audio fourte.

And no not with IEMatch, but the moment you enable it, you kill dynamics. Maybe you won’t hear it with all iem’s but sure with those one’s.

The only one where it does not are my oversize planars from hifiman and audeze. But there xdsd is no match for my desktop dac and amps

I already liked and reviewed the previous Ifi Hip Dac 3, the 3 brings even more improvements and the addition of IE match makes it a even better all round device!
