Good Sound!

I purchased the Luxury & Precision P6Pro 10th AE, but some tracks appear as “no artist” or “no album” on the artist and album screens (while others display correctly).
There are no issues when playing from the directory view.
I understand that the P6Pro does not recognize ID3 tags.
The directory structure on my SD card is as follows:

Artist Name
  │
  Album Name
  │
  Track Name

Additionally, all track names follow this naming convention:

Artist Name - Track Name.flac

However, on the artist and album screens, some tracks display correctly, while others appear as “no artist” or “no album”.
What directory structure or naming rules should I follow to ensure that artists and albums are displayed correctly on the P6Pro?

Nice to have some time on the first day of Year of the Snake to have some listening on the P6Pro 10AE Gold and the venerable Sony MDR-R10, using the WY1 cable to stream QQ Music off the Samsung S24.

A real MDR-R10? 🔥

How do you like it? How does it compare with the clone you had?

I still have the ES-R10. I suspect the ES-R10 is tuned to be more for modern music genres generally. More focus on the lower mids and upper bass. The MDR on the other hand is more delicate with sumptuous mids and smooth trebles. Excellent sound stage, quality deep bass when called for. It suits the sort of music I listen to. Vocals, jazz vocals, chinese ACG music. Benson does an excellent job in recreating the magic. However, no one will pretend that the ES-R10 will replace a MDR-R10. :)

Aside of tuning do ghe compare technically or nah? Got a good offer for the clone but guess il should wait for the real deal :)

Well, the ES-R10 is really affordable. The MDR will cost a fair bit more, putting it mildly. Plus finding a specimen that still works well is tough.

Yes. Discernible difference between the two. The tuning of the Silver has probably greater meat and textured bass. There is more focus on mids than the Gold. But that is only because the gold has a bigger soundstage and treble extension. Frankly, I use both to listen to vocal centric music like jazz vocals, asian pop and Chinese ACG. No issues with either. Different presentation, :) I do not listen much to classical music. So, can't help you there.
You have both the gold and silver P6P 10th anniversary? How do they compare to the black vs obsidian vs ti99 vs HK Edition.

I ask because I have a few of them and will probably end up with all of them if I can get my hands on them so I’d love to know if there is any redundancy between them allowing me to skip a particular unit?

Thanks

I own the Ti99 and Silver 10th, and I have to say they’re very similar, tuning wise. I haven’t fully burnt it in, but out of the box it was hard to notice a difference, aside from the slightly more presence. I’ll investigate more and report back.

The 10AE silver is very different from the Obsidian. Much better technical performance, and much more of a conventional tuning. The obsidian is quite a bit more mid-forward, with less detail but with a warmer, lusher tuning.

I solved it on my own.

I see views have been shared by others on the difference between obsidian and silver. With regards to the difference between the 10AE Gold and the OG Black P6Pro, I think that the Gold has better treble extension and separation. and bigger soundstage.

Ditto for the Ti99 and Silver, whilst close, for the music I listen to, my sense is that the Silver is probably more crisp in its note separation and greater note weight.

I have not heard the HK version myself.

The Obsidian version of the P6Pro was born out of a demand within China for the vocal centric tuning of the P6, which they missed in the P6Pro Black. :)

As to whether there is sufficient difference between the versions and whether you can hear it on the genres you listen to will be the variable, I suspect, in all our impressions.

I hope that helps.

Just like when I had the chance to demo the P6 Pro two years ago I’m once again amazed at how good Bluetooth sounds on this. The Kr5 also really shines out of this DAP.

Agree on the BT. It does LDAC wonderfully as well. By the way, in case you are pondering the FiiO BT11, it works nicely with the iPhone to stream out LDAC and excellent BT connection with the P6Pros. Been using that with my iPhone since @Damz87 introduced the BT11. :)

That’s a great idea! I’ll pick one up.

In the meantime, I’ve found a use for my HiBy R4

Thanks man

Yeah they all sound similar to me.

I have the ti99 and to me it sounds more detailed and dynamic than the OG P6 Pro but it’s not a night and day difference.

I wonder how the HK compares. Maybe @Leto Dal can comment.
