Thanks man

Yeah they all sound similar to me.

I have the ti99 and to me it sounds more detailed and dynamic than the OG P6 Pro but it’s not a night and day difference.

I wonder how the HK compares. Maybe @Leto Dal can comment.
My silver 10th AE got around 60h+ burn in at this point, the power output is similar I listen at same volumes at least and both seem to drive VO similary well. Other than that I say its a rather big difference to HK at least with APX SE.
When it comes to detail retrieval Silver just extracts more detail, layering is better, the stage is definitly larger, the sub bass reaches deeper. WIth Traillii the difference is smaller for some reason but still there is definitly clearer highs with more pronounced treble. Its the same effortless musical DNA, but the tuning and technicalities are very different to my ear.

I solved it on my own.

How did you fix it? There also seems to be some kind of invalid character (my assumption) that is causing library scanning to fail and crash the unit. Anyone have a list of characters that are not supported?

I’ve received and been listening to the Gold 10th anniversary, as others of stated the sound on this is absolutely some of the most natural notes I’ve heard on a portable. But this operating system is absolutely terrible. It seems if they’re just gone even 10% further in developing the file management portion of things and making the library searchable. It would’ve absolutely magnified the overall experience.

I am experiencing this problem for quite some time with every L&P dap I own, I believe its some bug with western alpha numeric system that just doesnt flow well with the thing. Stíll even if its crashes my library is updated and the dap can be used as usual.

A few impressions from my early Friday morning listening of the P6 Pro 10ae Silver w/ Aura (probably around 30 hours burn in now):

Israel Kamakawiwoʻole - Somewhere over the rainbow

The first thing you hear is the ukulele, each strum coming across perfectly. Then, in the next second you hear Israel’s textured and somewhat beautiful breathing. Shortly after he starts singing, transporting you somewhere else entirely.

I’ve heard this rendition of the song so many times I’ve lost count, but on the P6 Pro, driving the VE x AK Aura, it takes on a whole new life.

Moving next onto Cat Stevens - Time / Fill My Eyes off Mona Bone Jakon.

Again, you hear the acoustic guitar first, coming across effortlessly where you just think ‘this sounds right’. Then his voice comes in, a little further back in the mix than with Israel but retaining the perfect amount of weight. The song(s) was my choice at my dad’s funeral, one that has deep roots through my childhood memories, and hearing it through this combo brings out every memory. There is an analog feeling to the sound that reminds me of my dad playing this album on vinyl which has never been replicated outside of my memories until now.

Next, onto something a little more modern, MONO – Ashes in the Snow.

It starts out with some distorted sounds, then you get some chimes, which you can pinpoint perfectly in the image that it’s presenting. Sat slightly on the left and right of your head. Guitars come in, plucking a few notes as the song starts to build up. At around the two minute mark, the stage opens, filling your audio stage entirely.

The song sits here for a minute or so, then at three minutes it gets bigger again, lifting your emotions as the sound increases around you. The song takes off around the 6-7 minute mark, my favourite part of the track, which leaves me pretty much breathless for the remainder.

I'm finishing off the session listening to the mono version of Pet Sounds (probably my favourite album of all time), currently half way through. It has that analog feel to it which just sounds right to my ears.

It’s that damn good. The only complaint I could possibly have on the sound front is that I can't do much else when I'm listening as it consumes me.

In my case, rather than fixing something, the issue was due to my oversight and lack of knowledge about ID3 tags.
Since the P6 Pro does not support gapless playback, I manage all my albums using cue sheets. In this setup, I write a .cue file along with a single merged .flac file (in the case of FLAC) to the SD card. However, even though I created the merged .flac files using the same tool (XRECODE3), some of them had incomplete ID3 tags. After I corrected the ID3 tags in those incomplete .flac files, they displayed correctly.
Another issue was entirely due to my lack of knowledge.
I own several DSD albums, and the tracks are in .dsf format. Since .dsf files support ID3 tags, I attempted to manage them using cue sheets by merging them into a single file. However, the file created by XRECODE3 after merging was in .dff format. The .dff format does not support ID3 tags, which resulted in “no album / no artist” being displayed. Since I don’t have many DSD albums, I decided to give up on managing them with cue sheets.

As for the P6 Pro crashing issue, I haven’t experienced it, so unfortunately, I don’t know the cause.

May I ask how you use the .cue file in this case?
I've used xrecode3 to create a single FLAC from the individual FLACs for a given album, and that seems to work fine, but I'm curious what the .cue file does?

Lets you select individual tracks from the album, rather than having to just start from the start.

A cue file contains metadata for a single, combined FLAC file.

It includes information such as the start times of individual tracks and their titles within the combined FLAC file.

When opening a combined FLAC file on the P6 Pro, the track names are displayed according to the information written in the cue file.

This allows the combined FLAC file to be viewed as if it were separate FLAC files while also enabling gapless playback.

Ahhh, ok that works now. I don't know if I had wrong file names or extensions when xrecode created the files maybe? like the cue file and flac files had opposite file extensions or something...

And I'm still not exactly clear on when/how the player reads the .cue file?

But I've got a couple working now, so all good, thanks!!

Agree on the BT. It does LDAC wonderfully as well. By the way, in case you are pondering the FiiO BT11, it works nicely with the iPhone to stream out LDAC and excellent BT connection with the P6Pros. Been using that with my iPhone since @Damz87 introduced the BT11. :)
How do you get the BT11 to pair with the P6P? I’m having some difficulty pairing with my 10AE, because the FiiO app doesn’t seem to have a way to choose a specific source to pair with, nor does the P6P. I place the BT11 in pairing mode and I turn Bluetooth off/on on the P6P but they don’t connect to each other.

Trial and error, which is why I gave up on bt11. When I could finally get it to connect, it wouldn't always connect LDAC. Basically turn on BT, remove pairing in fiio app, and put them near each other.

What’s the difference between the HK and the Silver 10th?

The HK is the same tuning as the OG but with more power correct? Same as the Ti99 is the same or similar to the Obsidian but with more power? Please explain what you’ve found mate.
Cheers

Hi all, I'm currently looking at getting a new DAP to use with my Clara and thinking of a WM1ZM2, LP6 or P6Pro. Could someone please explain the differences in sound and what would possibly be the best fit with Clara? I'm currently using WM1AM2 which sounds great but want to see if I can get some more out of the performance. One other thing regarding LP6, is it touch screen and does anyone know what the battery performance is like please?
