I thought the limit was 10k? @dhc0329 ?

Btw, do you listen to any other IEMs with LP6, besides Ely? The reason I'm asking, just got LP6 for a week on loan from MusicTeck, and this is a VERY powerful DAP. With most of my iems from 4.4mm low gain I can only listen at volume 1 or 2, and even from lower power 6.35mm SE output (with 3.5mm adapter) in low gain there is not much room for volume adjustment either. Plus, considering this is a true analog volume pot, you will not see volume displayed in notification bar because I assume you can't track it since it is not digital.

It does sound mind blowing, but I think the design for LP6 was intended more for headphones, especially more demanding harder to drive.
I used EVE20 with LP6, which is very sensitive. I can use it with low volume without problem. But there is a bit of noise issue with 4.4mm output. SE output is ok.

Isn’t ad5790 a single channel ? So using 2 of them that makes the ground to be a reference and 2 active channels. So the LP6 is a single ended configuration natively ?

From L&P site under LP6 page, 4x R-2R DACs and also slick partitioning/filtering of power for every single FPGA power rail:

Do you have the Slides for LP6Ti ? Because the specs is confusing here. The special 199 units limited run Ti has 4 DAC and the regular Gold has 2 DAC. The same as Platinum that has 2 DAC. Unless it is per channel and not total. If it is total then the only real balanced config is the Ti.

Thank you! As I suspected, the LP6 slides that @twister6 linked above were from LP6Ti which uses 4 DAC instead of only 2 as in the Gold and Platinum LP6.
Now we just need confirmations
Because as I read, the DAC is single channel, and only 1 per channel for 4 active signals would mean the regular Gold and Platinum is really a Single ended DAC source. The output stage could be Balanced amplifications.
So, if confirmed, the LP6Ti with 4 DAC is the only true Balanced DAC source, and the Amp stage could be a true Balanced amplifications also. There are a big different.

yes, lp6ti can power hd800s adequately...the cable invthe pic is also a product of L&P... they named it U75.

Regarding the queation on DAC...For non-ti versions, dual AD5790...For Ti version, L&P has not disclosed what they are...they juat said "top industrial grade r2r DAC"...think they must be even more expensive than AD5790...

i donT think there is an absolute answer to the question of best dac...it all depends on the implementation.. better check with musictek to see if a demo machine can be arranged for u for a test B4 u open your wallet..

That is true, implementations is always the key count. However, my point is to ask whether the source is being true balanced, so that the amplifications also have the benefit, or it is single ended. Implementations can always change the game. But to say that when it is done correctly, Balanced DAC into Balanced Amp into Balanced output = the best benefit of balanced . If Single ended DAC into Balanced Amp and into Balanced output, then the Output doesn’t get the full performances of Balanced audio. However, it has the benefit of 1.5 or 2x the power output. That is why I am asking such a question.

i kind of agree with your view..however, as i am not a technical man, cant contribute much to this discussion.

another brand that employs r2r dac widely is hifiman...their r2r2000 uses dual 1704, which is also a single channel dac...the choice of using 2 pcs or 4 pcs may also depend on power management...the capacity of the battery in a portable dap is capped, the designer will hv to make a choice, or settle for a compromised solution. As a user, i look at the final product n ask myself if its performance meets my requirement...vy much like buying a sport car, whether it is turbo charged or v8 is not the issue..am more concern with how power being delivered n handled

Yes but in the end you chose a V8 turbo charged  Ti version lol. Anyways, I understand what you are saying.

Also, what I was trying to ask wasn’t because how many DaC or Turbo. The question was to answer myself , or anyone with similar questions.

If the Gold LP6 is 2 DAC, it is better to use it single ended out VS balanced . The Ti as mentioned, it is the best using Balanced VS Single ended out. Theoretically speaking
